Your going to need a 3 series posi to use a 3.42 gear.

you don't have to have a 3 series posi! you have many options. If you want lower gears then you are either need to buy a spacer or switch to a 3 series carrier. Only posi if you want it.

You are looking for lower gears, not higher. Also, you have a 2.73 rear, not a 2.83.

its okay ndamron,
some people just have to be know it alls, especially moderators.

it all depends on what you want to call it rearend wise.
lower gears to some are high gears to others.
obviously somepeople's ways are the only "correct" way.

call them what you like. we all knew what you wanted.

well, you know......

with the engine i have and what i have done to the transmission, it totally makes sense to set up my street rod for the salt flats. Why would i want to drive my STREET rod on the STREET, when i can gear it for the salt flats.

furthermore, why would i be wrong, when i pulled off my cover, pulled out the gears and saw a factory stamped in number saying 2.83?

and then to be told im wrong.........thanks for sticking up for me bro!
