Re: Everyone post pics of your power adder.

joe,
what's up man? it works great, it's not a blow through carb though, just a regular mighty demon. There is barely any tuning, just tune it like a standard carb. the fuel press regulator must be boost refenced. its just great. makes tons of power without trying. I'm so glad i scrapped the fuel injection. i actually used the demon right out of the box. haven't touched it yet runs mint. it's like a superam without the headache.

Very tempting.

I love EFI, but I sold everything I owned with the Corvette. Starting fresh, adding up the cost of the components I'm kinda like "wow, that is a lot of money". Like. really a lot. From manifold to throttle body, injectors, sensors, ecm and harness.. It's a lot easier to preach EFI when you already have the stuff.

I have a 750 carb and a dual plane manifold bolted to a 350 in one of my parts cars. I'm torn between running a high compression NA heads, or running lower compression and picking up another S-trim (or ys or something similar).

hrmm.. what to do.

Re: Everyone post pics of your power adder.

joe,
i've been on this site for a long time 11yrs i beleive. i have to say that you definatley will love the carb enclusure and you have most of the parts. get an enclosure, put your carb and manifol on, leave the lid off, and run an airfilter. then when you can afford the blower, get one and throw the lid on. THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR A BLOWER, MUCH better than N/A imo. It's an instant bigblock. just make sure you have or are willing to get a cowl hood. pm or email me if you have questions about the install. it's easy, but there a re couple things that get moved around and customized. i have all the knowlege to share.

Being new here, I've been feeling a little like an outsider. So I thought I would put up a pic of the Nitrous set-up on the 94 LT1 I will be rebuilding and dropping into my 92 RS. Ignore the paper towel in the valve cover though.

Is it a grand national motor? I had a car with that motor N/A and loved it. Turbo'd would be fantastic.

It's a Edelbrock E Force blower. It's really not considered a full "screw" type blower however. It has Eaton semi-helical (almost screw) rotors along with a built in bypass valve. You'd never know it's there until you tromp on it. I'm only running 3.5 pounds of boost at the moment due to other issues with Edelcrock. I had it up to 4.5 pounds of boost and got 495 Lbs. of torque - at the wheels, 6.5 pounds is pretty much max boost with this blower on a 400. I had it set to 6.5 pounds for a bit, but I didn't dyno with it, but I can say both the HP and TQ numbers went up on my butt dyno.

I'd highly recommend to anyone considering one of these to NOT get the Edelcrock blower. Get a Magnuson MP-122H for a universal carbed application. It's the same blower with much better technical support. If hind sight were 20/20 - it's the one I would've gotten.

Plus they work with you to properly size a drive pulley for your engine. The only thing Edelcrock says is "Your warranty will be voided" if you change pulleys. I bought mine the first couple years they came out with the E-Force blowers. Magnuson and Edelbrock were together on the venture. Since then, Edelcrock split from Magnuson and make everything at thier foundry except for the rotors, which they buy off Eaton.

Re: Everyone post pics of your power adder.

Thats good torque, but I'd like to get about the same hp number also. I think a 177ci blower will do it, but it would be nice to have a more efficient version than the old GMC style.

If you look at the Magnuson site, they have a engine dyno video - they claim they made 725HP with a LS2 for a Trailblazer - not with a 177, but with a MP122....

But take note, that's with a LS2 platform, which is a much more efficient platform than any Gen 1 383 or 400, blower not withstanding. Sure, a Gen 1 platform can be built for that kind of power, but you can pretty much throw efficiency and reliability out the window - and it'll cost uber $$....

But back to topic, I love seein those LS transplants with the blowers in the thirdgens!! Keep those pics comin!

EDIT: And Neilb - Nice lookin 3.8!! Looks like it belongs in there.

Thanks, Yes it's a Grand National engine. Warmed up a bit with a CPTE60 turbo , 214/214 Comps Cam, 42# injectors (coming soon), and a Turbo tweak chip. I'm hoping for around the 450hp mark, and I was told this combo will be close, so we'll see.

Re: Everyone post pics of your power adder.

IROCZZ3, I was just looking at your Grand National set up, and was wondering what your thoughts were on injectors. The chip a have calls for 42# injectors... but I'm having my doubts on whether they are going to be large enough. I see you're running 60#. If i get larger injectors, will the chip i have work? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

With a PTE-60 I think you'd be borderline ok with the 42s but I feel 50s would be better. Probably depends on how much boost you intend to run and type of fuel (pump/alky or race gas). My old setup was a TA-60 turbo, 50 lb injectors, 91 octane/alky, and 25 psi boost....and wasnt even close to maxing out the injectors (around 75% duty cycle IIRC). Oh and no knock.. Whatever injectors you choose requires a new chip to be burned.

Thanks for the info, I was really starting to doubt the 42#ers were going to work. Too bad about the chip though... oh well, live and learn.

Re: Everyone post pics of your power adder.

There are a few people on turboforums running SS autochrome , etc, ebay headers with no problems as long as you brace the turbos and dont hang all the weight of them only.

Ive bought all the chevy sets on ebay. To test fit n finish. Decent quality for the price. They DO NOT purge the inside when tig welded. So yes the welds will be a little weaker.
