where do i put the turbo?

Okay, so ive been doing research on turbo's and supers for a while now. I understand the theory behind them and how they work. I probably know more about turbines and pumps and how they work than i do about how my car engine works.

Anyway, heres my problem. I know how turbos work, but i just dont know how you get the compressed air from the turbo, to the engine. I mean, does it go from the turbo to the regular air intake and then through the air filters that way? or does it go directly to the throttle body? In which case, how does the air get filtered? Does it have a filter somewhere upstream of the turbo, or is there one downstream, inbetween the turbo and the throttle body (assuming it goes directly to the throttle body, not to the regular intake)?

Please excuse my ignorance in this matter, but i would just like to know. And no, im not planning on putting a turbo on my car without researching it more... i.e. what to do to beef the engine up to handle 7-12 psi boost, what to do to the timing, what to do to the computer to allow it to accept the boost, what to do about the fule system to allow more fule pressure, suspension so i dont go flying off into the atmosphere.... and so on.

oh and heres what im running right now, '82 camaro Z28, which means it has the old cr@py 305 crossfire injection. all else is stock.

P.S. is there anywhere on the net that i can find some sort of guide on turbos, something that explains everything yould want to know about how they work, and how they are installed?

If you goto Grape Apes Web site (http://www.grapeaperacing.com/GrapeApeRacing/index.htm) there is a TON about turbo stuff there.

Also if you are really interested in Turbo's I would recommend Corky Bells Book, Turbocharging. I got my copy from Amazon. This Book will take you from where you are to way past what you need to build a turbo system.

One more thing, there has been a LOT of discussion on this BB about turbo's do a search on the word Turbo & I think that most of your basic questions & some of the advanced ones will be answered.

You might want to also pick up Hugh MacAinnes (whatever it is) book, Turbochargers. It has a lot of good info. Like was already mentioned you can do a search. Turbobuick.com has a lot of good info, you might want to check out the junkyard turbo list at yahoo. I live in W Lafayette about 9 months out of the year, so once school starts back up you can always look me up. HTH's
