The car is comming along slowly. I have been trying to build an exhaust system around the Spohn cross member, and this has become quite a chalenge. Another issue i have been dealing with is belt routing for the vacuum pump. And the upper radiator hose has me scratching my head.
To be honest, I have not spent much time in the garage, and have lost interest in this project. After the trip to the dyno with Tory's car, I have been putting more effort into getting the bird done, but I just don't have the motivation I did at the start of all this.
On top of all this, I need a return spring!
And a new hood! I had a hood made by VFN, had it painted, and I hate it! Here is a pic, you will see what i mean.

What do you mean "build" an exhaust system. I have been thinking of getting the Spohn torquearm/x-member setup for my T56 and I have the mufflex 4" off road with the dual 3" Y, am I goanna be scewed too?

I have to "build" a y-pipe. I don't know if you will have a problem with what you are running, but i have a set of Headman Hustler headers, and they are a lot different than most headers i have seen. I do know you will have to "clearance" the spohn cross member for your exhaust. I am one of those people that like to build stuff rather than buy it. that is why i am building my own exhaust. I had already put together my own 4" system, now I just need to make the y-pipe.
Thanks for the compliments guys, I am just a little bummed out about the hood. I wish it could be a lot shorter than it is, unfortunately, it needs to clear this...

I dont think there is anything wrong with your hood, for the severity of the car it is what people expect to see. The protrusion is becoming the norm as builders struggle to fit turbo, centrifugal, and/or intercooler piping into the car. Heck, I have even seen some lately that compomise the windshield! I say run your fattest out back and get that Ed Quay "drag" deck wing ( I think we talked about it) to fininsh the look. I think it will be awsome and if my car looks similarly evil and intimidating when it is completed I will be happy (I wont be even near as fast either) P.S. I have the coated Hooker Supercomps and a PA K-member (if that changes anything you know of on the exhaust)

B4Ctom1, I am ok with the piping protruding through the hood, I was expecting that (and I was the one that made the hole). I just don't like the height. I need the height in the front to clear the Igloo, but would like the hood to "level off" or go flat towards the back. It just keeps the upward slope all the way to the windshield. That is why I don't care for the hood too much.
As far as the exhaust goes, You will definately need to "clearance" the crossmember.
That tire you see on there is the max i can go without compromising my standards (protrusion to the exterior of the car). And I just spent all day yesterday putting that wing on. It is the fiberglass version of the factory origonal (saved 15# and no more cracking of the paint!) so I am going to stick with it for now.
This pic shows the size of the tire a little better...it is a 28x11.5 et drag.

Once you get that thing running and start tearing up the track, you'll forget about the hood thing real quick. That should be enough motivation for ya!

Your car kicks ****!:hail:

Blownbird, your car looks sweet (and I wish it was mine), but perhaps you could take a picture of your car against a lighter background (a white/grey carwash wall?) so we could see the details clearer.

I see what you mean about the hood, and since you mentioned how you like to do most of the work yourself, maybe you could measure the exact height you need, cut the cowl down to that size, and refiberglass (or have it done if you are unable) to the new cowl line. Just a thought.

Good luck!

I know that you don't like it, but I'm wondering, how is the quality of the VFN parts? I'm somwhat considering using their 'glass fenders/nose, but won't if they're wavy... I want something that will look as straight as new fenders....
