NON 3rd gen, but need help with nitrous install on a VW
ok we put a Zex kit on my friends 91 VW Passat(4 banger). Since the Zex kit was intended for Hondas and the such, the instal didnt go as planed. a typical zex instal has a wire that goes to the TPS and senses WOT, but VW have a differant voltage at that wire then hondas and casue the nitrous to spray all the time....no big deal realy,, we ran wires from the battery, and the box to a switch inside the car, then ran a pushbutton off that to spray the nitrous (only 55 shot)...so we finaly get the install done, and go and test it... first time spraying went good. it was just a quick little spray with no ill effects....but when we tried to spray it after that it BOGS like a mother..then you get outside and it smells like its running extrmely rich. what do you make of this? and y did it run good for the first time? since its only a 55 shot, the timing shouldnt have to be retarded at all....any help?
sounds like the N2O solenoid is not opening up. disconnect the line from the jet, turn on the bottle & push your activation button (HOLD onto the line or it will go all over the place). you should see a TON of N2O coming out of the tube. if not............

My guess is that the TPS is something like 5volts at WOT and you hooked it up to the battery sending 12 volts to a input not designed for 12 volts and bet the box is toast..
