Would 2 Tial 35mm wastegates work?

I can get 2 35mm Tials for $460. I figure they have to be better than the wastegates that came stock with these turbos I have. So they should work. Any opinions on this? Thanks.

No, your correct Procharged............I'm not in operation yet........and now that I read back my message, I can see where it would be misleading.

I wasn't trying to put across that they work great or anything.......just that I a lot of experienced locals have talked me into them as far as bang for the buck and capability of doing what I want. For my manifolds, my only choice was the delta gates, race gates, or Tials. Everyone convinced me to go with the Tial line over the Delta Gate line.

My apologies if I misled you Bhaas.

Nah, i knew you wouldn't do that. I just didn't want him to get the wrong impression, i know you are a standup guy. The tials work with the manifolds huh? i may look into those next year

Yea, they have the Tial's that are for a Delta Gate replacement. It's a pretty nice piece. I'll shoot you a pic when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the replies. What if I'm making more than 400hp? They say they're only good to 400hp. That's not much. Will they stand up to more? They seem much better then those flapper valves in the turbo itself and people are making good HP with just those. I just want to get my car to 10 seconds and I'll be happy. Wheelstands would also be nice

They say deltagates are only good to 400hp too and i know people who have used 2 of those in 1000hp applications

It's kind of confusing but for some reason they rate the turbo's and the wastegates per turbo. Like when I bought my turbo's, they told me one was good for around 500 but two are good for over a 1000. I'm assuming the wastegates are done the same way............someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup....thats why on some single applications you see people using twin deltagates cuz one isn't enough for the horsepower they have

That's kinda what I was thinking. 400hp per side or whatever. Right on. Gonna have to get them then or maybe get that single turbo setup on e-bay. Trying to decide.

I've decided to go ahead and re-do those headers. I think that 14 gauge is too thin. Gonna buy some heavier pipe and when I weld them together I'm gonna try and keep the stubs from going into the log. I want it as flush as I can get it. That was my first try at making those so I know the second time around they'll be much better. I'm gonna get those 2 35mm Tials. I'll probably send the money off Monday. Then after I get those headers done I should be making good progress on it, if it doesn't get too cold. Gotta buy a carb and fuel system to, then slap it all together.

Dumb question? Would square tubing work very good? Sure would make welding them stubs on so much easier.

Brad...

You sound like me. I took a break from my project just because I was getting annoyed at the stupid little things. Came back to it and decided that I’m wasting way too much time trying to get other stuff to work with what I thought was a good deal with the stainless headers and have decided that I’d save myself a lot of frustration and have a combination that I’d be happier with if I just built the right thing to start with. What I have would work but it would so compromise things that I don’t think I’d be happy with the final result.

So what is the best deal on precut flanges?

Anyone have any thoughts about what kind of store to look for to pick up some weld ells locally? I’d like to grab a few sizes and tinker before I decide what I’m going to use (I know that you can order them from Mcmaster/Carr).

Am to.

I got to thinking. If what I have didn't work and burned through, all that work would have been a waste. I always screw myself getting in a hurry. Had lots of time to think about this and the cost and am gonna do it right the first time this time. Anyone think I can get to 10 seconds with this setup?

Donno, that's more up to you. I'm ultimatly hoping to see low 10's in the low 130's with the same turbos on my TPI 350. I know a guy (the one that i bought my turbos from) that has run high 9's in the mid 130's with the same turbos (the same exact ones) in a mustang on a 351 with crappier heads then the stock L98 heads on it.

I'd love to get my car down to about 3400# with me, but right now it's at 3710...

I get the header flanges from Turbo Tech and they're $35 each and the other flanges that the turbos bolt to I made from scrap at work, free. I'm gonna try and get some steam pipe or heavier pipe from the steel yard today. I haven't touched the car for a while now. Got stuff scattered all over and don't remember where it's all at. Gonna have to get back into the groove. I miss driving my car.

Brad...

Called Turbo Tech today about my weld flanges. They no longer make them cause there is now a CNC shop right by them and now they're $75 a piece. OUCH! They were suppose to have them done for me last Thursday so I talked them into making them. If you wanted some let me know soon and I might be able to get them to make some more if you were interested.
