"log" style headers

I was thinking of fabbing up some mild steel or 4130 'Log' style headers to play around with when I drop in a turbo.... can I get a pre-made cylinder head flange anywhere? I figure that would be a pita to fabricate without a mill (which I don't have) or maybe even a plasma cutter (don't have one of those either) also what seems to be the best size for the primaries and the main tube? 1 5/8 ? I plan to put it on a single turbo setup.

i don't think you would want to use 4130 chromoly. that is what we use for our formula sae chassis. the stuff is pretty hard to weld, albeit the walls are only .028" thick on some stuff.

i don't think that particular steel wouldn't like the high temps and the high corrosion present in a header.

I just re-read your post, you are looking for Head flanges, I thought it was turbo flanges (which you are going to need as well). just about all the header mfg's sell them. some that I have found are:

http://www.headersbyed.com/
http://www.kookscustomheaders.com/
http://www.lemonsheaders.com/frames.html
http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/index.htm
http://www.stahlheaders.com/
http://www.stainlessworks.net/

I think that your best bet is Headers by Ed, but I think that Stahl also sells the thick flanges.
