Single Turbo Exhaust Routing

I am looking for some pictures of exhaust routing on single turbo charged cars, preferable utilizing both banks of the engine.

I plan on turbocharging my 1985 Z28 IrocZ. Utilizing a log style manifold on the passenger side and a shorty header installed backwards on the driver's side, which will be ran under or parallel with the bottom of the radiator. 3" inch exhaust for the turbo all the to the muffler. moderate size turbo (max 8psi), i am looking for a short spool up time (turbo lag done with by 2k rpms). not worried about turbo sizing at this point.

I would just like to see some pictures of peoples car turbocharged the way i plan to turbocharge my car. Also i am not good a fabricating, if someone where to make me a log exhaust manifold to fit a turbo with provisions for an external waste gate, what would your price be?

nate, you are welcome to check out my webpage. there are many photos of my turbo setup on it.

As far as someone making you a log, that would be a little bit of work and someone would most likely have to have your car to do it.

Check out a couple of the other guys doing log type manifolds on this board. bhass and BOTLEFED both have log type setups going on their cars and have posted some pics. Go down the page a little bit to find their posts.

I have a couple laying around. They're made out of 14 gauge galvanized pipe. I didn't like them cause I thought they were too thin so I made another set out of schedual 40. Although most headers are made out of 14 gauge. I didn't put end caps on them but that's all that needs to be done to them. I'll sell them for $150 if you want them. Here are some pics.

Will those log headers clear the stock alternator? and will those flanges fit t3's or IHI's?

I would say probably. Here is the setup they were designed for.
They're pretty much out of the way of everything.

I haven't ran it yet. Hopefully in a week or so I'll be driving it. Can't wait.

Thanks bhaas

those just might work. my camaro is extremely clean, so i want to remove as little as possible. my only concern is that the manifold might leak or crack. i am going to do a little reach to see if the 14 gauge steel will hold up to the high temp of a turbo.

If everything checks out OK, in two weeks (the next time i get paid) i will buy the pair of exhaust manifolds from you.

Thank you- Nathan

Did you make the flange that bolts to the head or was that from a donor header? What about the flange that bolts to the turbo and is welded to the log? I'm going to be taking a shot at something like this soon, but on a superrammed 355. I have a set of donor headers that I picked up (for free), that's why I was wondering

I bought the headers flanges from Turbo Tech and I made the flange that goes to the turbo myself. The flanges off of the donor header are probably pretty thin so when your welding it make sure you have it bolted down good to an old head or it will warp. Even when welding the log onto the stubs it will warp. It's tough to weld the log on while it's bolted to a head, but try and weld as much as you can before taking it off to finish the rest. If you do end up warping it you can straighten it out some by bolting it to a head and heating it up with a torch to stress realieve it, but that takes a long time. Have fun. I would be driving my car today but the place I ordered my bonnet from (last Thurs) hasn't shipped it yet. (Computr prob) yeah right. Incompetence is more like it. Oh well maybe next week.
