CHP: Junkyard 350 takes 425 shot before blowing...

They took a 350 out of a junkyard, left the bottom end stock, put in a 268 Nitrous cam and new intake manifold. Got the thing to put out 599 horsepower on a 325 shot of nitrous. Then they went to give it a 425 shot and it blew. They said they think it might've been able to take a shot that big if they hadn't purged the system at as low of RPM as they did. Oh well, 325 shot on a '75 350 2-bolt main with the stock rotating assembly doesn't seem to bad.

That article was damn impressive. I would have like to have seen it stay togther to see if it could have taken the 425 shot. Knowing that this would never be reliable, it sure is fun to watch them flog it and see how much it would take before letting go.

The nos is not the thing that will do in a motor.
It is the tuning mistakes ( lean/ rich/ octane/ timing ) that
break parts.....

Your mileage may vary.:sillylol:

Yeah it was cool to see it take that much but I woulda rather seen how many times it could of taken a 100 shot or so before it puked.

100 shot? probably nearly indefinitely until you made too many mistakes in fuel quality, supply, timing, or in their case rpm during activation.

I know that if you spray a 125shot continuously for about a minute you'll blow something up (I know someone that did it and lived to tell about it)

Not very fast, had trouble putting all that power to the wheels of the stand.

Hehe, I'm guessing that power in a third gen would probably pull off a low 11, high 10 with traction.

I wish those jackholes would have had some brains during the purge so we could see what it would have made on the "larger shot". what destruction they did is basically what a regular guy could get with a hand activated nitrous switch mounted to his steering wheel or shifter without inhibiting precautions for RPM or atleast WOT.
