Ati P-1sc

So my ATI P-1SC will arrive within 2 weeks. What can I expect to run into when I install it on my 37K mile L98 engine? My 1LE runs great but I have (1) cooling issue, fan works but doesn' tseem to work. I have replaced the relay. (2) Engine is bone stock except for an AFPR set at about 50psi currently. Your guys past experiences and suggestions would be great. Please don't reply with "buy this this and this." I'm on a limited budget till late August. Thank for reading.

did you test the coolant temp sensor, the ecm should read the temp off the sensor and then turn the fan on by grounding the relay..

if i am not mistaken i think ati tells you in the directions to ground the relay so the fans runs all the time when the car is on..

I believe that would drastically reduce the life of the fans.

What boost are you planing to make with the kit you have purchased?

I'm planning on using on 9lbs. I'll have a set of EdelB coated headers, roller hydraulic lifters and roller rockers by June. After that I don't plan on any other mods till winter when my car comes of the road for the season. I'll be building a TPI 383 at that point. Any suggestions on the ATI blower are appreciated. Looking forward to a NewEngland 3rdgen gathering.

make sure this tiny plastic airdam in the picture isnt destroyed or missing, also, some times a misterious cooling problem can come strangely from a faulty radiator cap, also timing that is too far retarded can cause overheating.

Like b4ctom said, check for that airdam. You would be surprised at how much it actually helps. Also, make sure you dont have leaves, etc., stuck behind/in front of the radiator. Those can block off airflow at an incredible rate.

I am glad the ram air comes on the intercooler. I am ordering a P1SC this week end. Is $3220.00 a good price plus tax? I get a discount from the car club I am in. It is not polished. I polish parts for a living so I saved some there also. I am getting it from APE performance unless I find one cheaper between now and then. I will be building a 406 this winter so I can have alittle more power. It should be a screamer then. I have 304RWHP now so with 9 PSI of boost what do you think it will make about 425RWHP? I can't wait to get it on and back to the track.

the scoop is jet hotted and comes with the kit, it came with this 3 core atleast. If I could do it all over again it would be a D1sc and the 3 core instead of the P1sc and the 3 core.

Chris,

That's a good price...I was at APE today talking to Kirk about a Accel Gen7 ECM for my car.

I strongly suggest that you upgrade to the D1sc, especially if you plan on feeding a 406...boost is very addictive, i just got a 12# pulley and belt for my system...

and i'm not sure if the intercooler scoop is included with the P1sc kit.
