people with blowers look inside
i have a few questions about the holley 144 and weiand 172 superchargers.
how much power did you fell? what boost is it set at?
how hard was it to install? do you have any problems with it?
i am thinking about purchasing one tomarrow morning, and i would like to also know what heads from afr should i be using or should i just stick with my ported L98 heads. i have a 4" cowl, will there be a clearance issue. i have a 383 stroker in it right now.
Kingtal0n, your name is jordan right? a few months back a kid named jerry saw you at the chevron on eurika and old cutler road when you had the power charger on it, i am him, i was on the atc getting gas and we stopped and talked. remember me?

This motherf*cker right here is someone I consider my best friend. But it still makes me laugh when I ask this.
Jerry, how big is the explosion be when you strap that thing to your engine? I am guessing 2 megatons.

is there an intake for a 177 or 142 that will fit the ports on a set of 210's?

You'll have a touh time fitting jsut a little 142 under a 4" hood. A 177- no way. You'll need one of those massive "outaw" style cowl hoods to fit it. Don't forget you still have to fit the carb and a reasonably sized air cleaner under that sucker.
Do a search of old posts (archives) under my screen name. I wrote a phone book about installing one of these units. If you can't find it- email me and I'll send it to you.
Power increase: on the order of "Holy Cow!" Not quite as good as nitrous, but then I was only pushing 4 PSI at the time.
I've learned a LOT about these nifty little blowers having had one on 2 separate motors now, so I can give even more tips than what's in my article, if you would like.

Yeah, a 78 Malibu. 2-1/2" Harwood cowl hood. Qjet carb (is about 1/4" shorter than a Holley) and a 2-1/2"x14" open element filter in a housing with a 1-1/2" drop base. Air cleaner base is shaved and trimmed within an inch of it's life for every possible millimeter of hood clearance. It just couldn't possibly be a tighter fit no matter what you do to it.
My bu has proably at least an inch more hood clearnace to start with than a 3rd gen F-body, too.

I have not idea how I managed to get both M90's under a stock hood...just barley fit...

stay tuned... weather permitting, and trailer permitting, the Malibu makes its first run at Kilkare tomorrow.
Don't expect killer times, since I am running radial ta's but the top end charge should be fun...
cheers, Bob W
