well last night i used the nitrous for the first time. i used the biggest jets (70-53) after having the smaller jets in (long story, i dont feel like explaining it) anyways my car was flying. i hit 80 in a quickness and then my car shuts off. ended up being low oil pressure. car started back up luckily. well imma use this as a learning expierance. im back down to 100 shot.

i got a few questions, any of you guys using thicker oil? If so what kind of oil?

think it'll be a good idea to check my plugs? if so what should i look for?

a friend of mine told me to check my timing. stock is 6* should i bump the timing up any?

i see some guys on here having great success using NOS on their 305s. i really want my car tuned for some laughing gas

Thanks, Nate

Why would nitrous cause you to have low oil pressure? If anything, you want to retard the timing to keep it from detonating. Make sure you take that baby to the track and get some times when everything is worked out :hail:

i think the reason why i have such low oil pressure is cuz of my oil. its regular 10W30 quaker state. nothing fancy. when i tend to run my car hard the pressure gets near red once in a while. with the nitrous im reving quickly causing my oil to break down faster than regulary driven. only thing i can think of. im thinking of using thicker oil.

Hmm, thats weird. I run 5w30 and the lowest my oil pressure ever gets is 15 psi. Try replacing your sending unit, that could be it.

it shut off because of low oil pressure?

If you have the low oil pressure switch.. that cuts the fuel pump off.

You're lucky you didn't grenade your setup.

our cars computers dont shut down our motors when our oil pressure sinks? i have a new Walbro 255lph fuel pump. i really dont think it shut off cuz of fuel delivery. why would my motor turn off?

i agree...i have to be one of the lucky people who didnt greneade their motors

and also...i did a search. found out that its a good idea to retard ur timing 1* per 50 hp of nitrous. does that sound right?

Do you have a fuel pressure safety switch?

I'm not sure a 92 has it.....

But on my 87.. right below the oil cooler.. There is a 3 pronged sensor. Oil Pressure shut off switch, AKA fuel cut off switch.

If the oil pressure drops below 10psi, it cuts the ground signal to the fuel pump.

Well damn, you have some definite oil pressure problems then. Could be the pump going out?
