For those who like to hide things in the spare tire well...

i'm kinda just making this post for people in the future who want to stuff something in the spare tire well and was curious if someone had done it before.

For use with my air to water intercooler i stuffed a 4 gallon fuel cell in the spare tire well

but

i had to take out the thin piece of steel that is in there that the tire attaches to.

it is held on by 9 spot welds that you can chisel out.

There are 6 on top right by the weather stripping and 3 on the bottom

Hope this helps someone in the future

btw...it creates an enormous amount of room

i think the good old dremal or cutoff tool will come out to take that bar out. well for me half of it is already rusted and broken so it would take a min to cut the rest out.

to fit a battery in there i dont think you would need to take out the spare tire well steel, its just my fuel cell is quite wide and i needed the room

for a nitrous bottle or battery i dont think this is needed

I installed my trunk mount setup without removing that piece.
I would have prefered to have removed it now that I look back on the job though, because it would have left more room in the end.

Here`s a link with some pics of the battery setup:
