If there are no leaks, one can leave it open forever with no loss. But reality dictates that there will be some leakage so best to close it.

It is a good idea to close the bottle and purge the line after you are done racing. Not doing so is an excellent way to discover that you have a leaking solenoid.

the longer you leave it open the more it beats up the N2O valve, & the sooner it starts to leak. just dont run around town with it open all the time & you will be OK.

Im new to nos so forgive the dumb question(s)....

I thought that its best to purge the system right before you get ready to race...meaning to line up on the track...or street .... purge the system and you're ready to go. I figured you need to purge the system to make sure you get a good healthy stream of nos.....

Can anybody here give a decent math equation for "x" amount of bottle(s) + "y" amount of shot(s) = "z" amounts of times you can you use it on the stre...i mean track.

I hope what I just wrote made some sense. Like I said before Im very new to nitrous and am very interested in knowing all the "ins" and "outs" of it before I install nitrous in my car.

Later..

Dan

It's about 1 lb/min for every 25 HP you spray, so a 15 lb bottle would last about 3.5 minutes using a 100 HP shot.

i was using 2.2 lbs. per run at 250 horse shot (mid 11s) no purging . wanted to get an idea how long my bottle would last ,so i made 3 runs and took the bottle back out to weigh it .

mike

o ya i leave at 5000rpm and about 5-10 feet out when it hooks i step on it the rest of the way to hit the full throttle switch
