for that much shot, i would suggest haveing the block o-ringed and then using a copper gasket. that would work very well imho.

What is wrong with stock thickness fel pro's with a steel ring? My engine saw 30psi about 13.5:1 A/F ratio at least a half dozen times this spring. I yanked the heads because I had stuff coming out of the gasket between the head and the block. Turns out, it was excessive crankcase pressure blowing oil out from the drainback hole on the front of the head. It didnt blow through the gasket from the combustion chamber. No scorched steel rings. No burnt up gasket material. Valves look fine and so do the pistons.
Im putting the same gaskets back on and lowering the boost.
Not that it lasted a SUSTAINED 30psi but it saw substantial bosot most of its WOT life this spring. Gaskets still fine.
Now, that is with a turbo you might say but I cant imagine a 300 shot making much more cylinder pressure than 30psi of boost from a T88 turbo.
Just my opinions.

I'm looking at a 0.039 compressed thickness gasket. I want one this thin due to my c/r. I need all the help I can get. I talked to my machinist and he sugested a felpro 1010, 1003, or a 1043. The last one would yeild me the best c/r w/ its 4.080 bore and .039 thickness. I wanted around 10.5-10.6 but so far its only looking like 10.18:1.
Would you disagree w/ these gaskets?
I'm just looking for some help.

Why not go with a .047 stacked steel shim gasket, a little more expensive and retourqing of the heads after a few heat cycles for that kinda of cylinder pressure it may help. I know buick guys use em on 700hp 30 psi stage motors maybe something you'd look into.
I have run 200-300 shot witht he gasket guido is recommending I never had any problems with those or the fel pro marine gaskets, the part number escapes me now though. im running a 200 shot on the felpro .041's now..

mine is stamped marine on the gasket as well. Its a felpro 1014 but that gasket is for a 400 bored block and wouldnt be the one you need. Find the equivelant for a 350

250 shot on guido's recommended gasket also... no problems yet..
the trick is not to detonate. thats what normally blows headgaskets.

Thanks for the help guys. Motor is together now I just need to figure out my elec. water pump problems. Seems that its going to cost 380 for March pulleys and brackets just to be able to use a $150 water pump.
