fuel pump dedication, nessecary?

i'm using a nitrous kit (150 HP pills)on my zz4 350 (hypers) i'm using edelbrock's supposed high flow mechanical street pump. before i fire the nitrous i want to make sure i have adequate fuel flow, i'm waiting on a pressure guage, and i was wondering this: should i plumb a high flow electric fuel pump to the carb and run the mechanical pump to the sollenoids? it seems like it would make sense to send more fuel to the carb which more than likely uses more fuel than the enrichment solenoid.

I am a believer in the dedicated setup, I ran the motor out of gas with one of those holley blue pumps and ever since then I been a believer in the dedicated setup...

tom, thanks for the reply.
do you think the setup i suggested in the above post, about using a dedicated mechanical pump to the enrichment sollenoid and using the electric pump to run the carb is a wise idea? or would it be better to run two electric pumps and delete the mechanical pump?

thanks again

I recommend running the carb with the nice mechanical pump and the enrichment off a electric pump that can be turned on and off with the nitrous arming switch.

tom, thank you very much for the reply, however i'm a bit confused on how the plumbing would go, would it be wise to run the electric pump before the mechanical on the same fuel line? or would that be parasitic to the mechanical pump?

thanks again

no I think I may have mis-communicated this.

what I mean is for two independant fuel systems including a added pickup, one with the electric pump for the nitrous and one with the mechanical for the carburator...

now i understand, would i be able to plumb an additional pickup into the stock fuel tank, or would it be better to run a small fuel cell perhaps with a higher octane fuel for the enrichment solenoid?

thanks again

Just make sure you run a regulator with a return line. If you dont it will lean out really bad when you hit the button. Nitrous express actually does not recommend running a dedicated fuel system, but I think the only reason they say that in their manual is because they want to limit the number of things people can screw up. I plan on running a dedicated fuel system with a Jaz nitrous fuel cell. That way I can put race gas in the fuel cell and have instant octane boost when i need it .

I really love NX products but they say some screwy stuff sometimes they say in the destructions that retarding the timing on nitrous isnt really necessary, yeah right. I think you are right on with that "limiting the number of things a person can screw up..."
