About the only set of heads you'll find for less than $600 are the vortecs.

A set of good heads for a mild turbo setup will be will be much the same as for a street setup. Keep in mind that you want to keep your compression down so you dont detonate under boost.

The AFR heads offer a thicker deck surface that can make a difference if you start running mad amounts of boost.

Yeah I can think of plenty of "good heads" but nothing that comes to mind that are under 600...Unless you find a deal on a good used set..

Nothing wrong with a set of ported and polished L98 heads. I just bought a pair with 1.6 roller rockers and larger valves for $250.. It was family that sold it to me, there are always deals out there if you can find em.

Sure, ported heads will work but to find a cheap set that are done properly are rare because it takes lots of hours to port heads. If you have plenty of time and want to go really low buck you can do some porting yourself but w/o a flow bench you should probably limit yourself to bowl work.

My cousin bought a full L98 350 TPI out of a junk yard camaro for $300. When he cracked the engine open he got quite a surprise Fully ported heads(the ones I bought), ported TPI, comp cam, and dish pistons. He sold the heads to me for $250 and the TPI setup to my Dad for $300 including computer, harness the whole bit. It was a great find.

hey guys i got back from the swap meet last night
i picked up a set of trick flow 195 cc heads 23 degree 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust and they have a 64cc combustion chamber
im goin to mill out the combustion chamber to 70 or 72 something like that because of the turbo setup i need low compression

has anyone used these heads on this board or does anyone know some one who has used these heads

im wondering what kind of power im goin to get out of the engine before i turbo it
i have 350, a performer intake, 750 cfm holly carb, and a stock bottom end (im thinking about buying a short block forged)

tell me what u guys think

thanks guys

any heads will work well with forced induction.....its just that if they dont flow too well you are going to have to run a lot of boost to make the power you want

if you run cast iron i wouldn't worry much about which you choose

if you run aluminum you have to worry about the thickness of the deck and if you buy them used you have to make sure they haven't been milled too much or they wont seal well

I would not bother with changing it unless your going to run seriously high boost or the CR is over 10.0 to 1 .... Plenty of people out there running 9.5 to 1 on higher boost apps with no problems..

As long as your setup is not like 10.5 to 1 you will be ok PROVIDED YOUR CAR IS TUNED PROPERLY AND YOU HAVE ENOUGH INJECTOR TO HANDLE THE SETUP...

Or you can run a thicker head gasket and make up some of the loss** or a Dished piston...
