Nitrous ?'s

i just bought a nitrous kit and i was wondering what would be safe? i have a 170,000 miles and mods and car in sig. i have the bottle and line fittings and sloenoids its not a "kit" i bought it in pieces but its all the same. and i need to find a place to get a tbi nitrous plate. and i was told by people that they have had 100 shot with about the same miles and have had no probs. so how much is ok i was thinking a 50 or 75 shot wet. but any advice would help. i have talked to people that know alot about nitroue and think i can run a 100 but u guys know more about my car then they do. thanks

I'd say assuming that the fuel pump is up to it, and the rest of the engine is sound then 100-125 should be safe. If it's burning any oil fix that first, you want no detonation.

the valve guides are bad it smokes when i start it but thats it. no smoke when i drive. it seems like a pain just to change the valve guides and the stuff up there and still have 170k on the bottom end but if i need to so i dont go boom then i guess i will have too

i'd say just make sure you have a good high volume fuel pump, then have fun with 100-150 shot

my thoughts on this:

if i were doing it, i would get a carb intake and run a carb plate setup with a TBI adaper on top... my reasoning is, IMO you would get more even flow to all cyls... plus it cant hurt.. not needed, but its just how i would go with it....

as far as the stock pump, well, thats kind of a gray area.... at thoes miles, the pump may be just bearly flowing enough for the stock setup, or it may be working great and support +100 hp... you have no real way of knowing...

unless this is a "lets blow up a 305" exersise, id replace the pump before i ran any N2O thru it..... but thats my extreme saftey side point of view on it...

and personally, i wouldnt run over 100shot if i wanted to keep the motor.

Nitrous express says a stock pump will take you to 125 HP safely.
That is assuming that it is in good condition. If your pumps condition is in doubt a new stock replacement (AC Delco or Walbro) should be sufficient for 125 HP.

id also add, that if you're going to put a stock replacement pump, you can get a walbro255 for about the same price, and somtimes less if you find a deal online....
