Quick Nitrous Question.........

Is it safe to mount them under direct sunlight, basically on the upper part of the hatch??

May seem like an odd question........but i thought they would be ok if you placed them in the blanket to protect them from the elements?

a blanket typically is to keep them warm and the pressure up. i personally wouldn't recommend it in a place much like yours but if you have a dark tint on your window you should be ok. the worst part is trying to locate the down tube in case of the bottle heating up too much and the pressure becoming to great.

while i'm certainly not the best person to suggest since i am moving both my bottles up there i do have double limo on the rear hatch. best bet is too keep bottle guages on them so that if the pressure does arise you can remove them and put them on ice which i have had to do a few times during hot summer shows when i have a full bottle.

From a safety perspective it's fine as long as you have the blowdown tube installed, from a real world perspective you're just asking to get the car broken into and harassed by every cop within 1000miles unless your back window is tinted so dark that you can't see it.

How could you say that! You mean there are evil thieving bastards? Nobody, especially some
r i c e r , would ever break into your car just because they saw a nitrous bottle.
Just like nobody would ever mess with your turbo if you installed it under the rear like the STS system...

You know, it's funny… but anything I own with any major stuff on it worth stealing spends so little time away from me or not in places that I don't know a few people hanging out at (track, car shows, work, gym…) that I'd be very surprised if someone tried to mess with it that I didn't know, and I'd be VERY surprised if someone that knew me would mess with something of mine.

well if your dumb enough to display high dollar items and leave them unattended in this world your just waiving a flag and asking for problems.

i love it when your hear stories of people complaining how their stereos were stolen or other things. "you know i was just blasting my music and minding my own business when i parked the car at the mall. i even made sure to park it in the back so no one would bump into me."

some people need to learn.....as far as the bottle if you want to display it either put it up top or in the well. otherwise the best spot is in the spare tire compartment. at least in the well you can cover it up when you do go somewhere unlike attaching it uptop.

good luck.

A good solution for the blowdown tube is to use an AN line instead of the hard tubing that many kits offer. You can make the line as long as necessary to vent in the bottom of the rear well or whever is easiest and best looking. AN bulkheads are available for the outlet end.

Oh, and if you get your bottle used and before you put it in that location in direct sunlight, make sure some idiot didnt put a dime or something in the cap instead of the diaphram. I've seen it done before.

that's a good idea about the line i've been considering myself. how did you secure the end though. with 1400 psi or more that causes it to open i wouldn't want it flying around.

Yep, definetly! You use an aluminum AN bulkhead and some nice washers if you put it into the thin stamped floorpans. I pulled mine off real quick so you can see it close up.

Thanks for you pic of how you anchored you blowdown tube. I was wondering how to keep it from blowing back up into the car if it happened to blow.
