Are Turbos from a 97 grand am anygood

I have the chance to pick up a couple of turbos from a 97 grand am. Would these be good turbos for a twin setup on a zz430 motor in a 89 camaro? any idea where I can find more info on them?

'97 Grand Ams were not turbocharged, they weren't even supercharged, as I don't believe they were equipped with the L67 option.

Grand Prix could be supercharged, they were a 3.8L. I think those might be the supers that Saturn5 used for his twin charged SBC in his 'Bu, I know they were that style.

The V-6 Grand prix GTP were equipped with a roots type blower. There is no way you can get that blower to fix on the intake manifold of a small block.

BTW: Supercharger and turbocharger are completely different.

'89 and '90, it was a Turbo 3.1, used a Garret T-25, with .63 and .67 A/R IIRC. Too small even for the 3.1 IMO. I use a T-3 on my 3.2L and am thinking of upgrading.

I think he meant that's monty's car, not that it was a monty.

Alright that is clearly saturn5's malibu. And it is clearly not a 3rd gen. But saturn5 is clearly cool enough to hang out with us.

Bob used m90 off of tbird turbo coupes. The gtps use an m66 (I believe correct me if i am wrong). There is something about the GM eatons that makes them not very adaptive I think it has something to do with an integrated throttle body.

The point is.

Its a TPI between them 2 m90's and he is running gm ecm and code..... Hence why he belongs to this forum.

ANYTHING is passable with ingenuity, trial and error, patients and $$..

who would have thought you could adapt lt1 heads and intake to a standard sb. Its done all the time now..

Just for clarification again, the Grand AM did have a Turbo option back in the late 80's. I believe from 86-89ish.

They were 2.0 Turbos, same as the sunbird I believe.

Look about 3 posts up, I already posted that info, but I'll post again, '89 and '90 Grand Prix TGP (NOT GTP), they used a T-25, but has larger housings than the turbo the Sunbird used, Sunbird was .47 and .48, TGP was .67 and .68.

first off 97+ GTP grand pre's had eaton M90's (otheryears had superchargers, but i dont know if they were M90's) no late model grand pre had a turbo..... BUT late model (97+ to be specific) buick regals, with the same 3800 series II as the grand pre, were turbo'd i dont know anything about the size of the turbos, but i would imagine 2 of them would be enough for a small block... a 430 sbc might be pushing it, maybe 83 crossfire can chime in as he's pretty good in the turbo sizing field... and just for the records those same 97+ regals had the M90 S/C as well, but SOME were turbo'd

Show me a picture.

BTW it was never an option, GM hasn't used a turbo in thier (production) cars since 1990. (excluding the Sy/TY, since they are not a car. )

As far as I know, the last two gm turbo cars were the late 80's GranPrix and the TTA (not counting the 6.5L TD's)

True, both '89 and '90 model TGP's had 3.1 Turbo V6s. I was referring to the older Grand Ams of the mid-late 80's that had Turbo I4 motors.
