BOV Placement - question...

The vortech uses this discharge pipe. The pipe has a seperation about half way down, so the air goes into the twin throttle body.

I've seen the BOV placed near the charger like on darcom's car, and near the throttle body like madmax.

Now I've heard that the closest to the TB the better, however by doing that like on madmax's setup you only get the bov on ONE SIDE of the splitted discharge pipe - I think Suggestions?

Madmax's is my old setup...Ill say this IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU PUT IT....

Im sure to an EXTREME finite degree for .01 miliseconds the vacuum created in the area next to the BOV would depressurize first...But Nothing close enough to impact anything.....

In trerms of being in the split as mine was..AGAIN what difference does it make the areas are al connected.. The valve stem on my tire has a RIM directly between it and the air on the opposite side...However the pressure deflates pretty much evenly..

Typically people install them wherever it will fit ...Had I mounted mine where PIC#2 was then it would have hit my heater hose..

I guess that answers it then.

All I need now, is to make a flange on my discharge tube for the 1g dsm bov I bought, or figure out how to weld the steel flange to the alum discharge tube.

Kenwood's was my old setup.

Just thought Id throw that in there. lol

EDIT: You need to get aluminum tube and an aluminum flange. Vortech sells the flange and I sourced thetubing at a local radiator shop.

Yea... get it right guys!

I can take some other pics of that spot if you want. I agree that it probably doesnt matter much, its just a relief point and inside the plenum stuff is connected anyway.

If you have long ducting between the supercharger/turbo and the TB (front mount IC) then it is better to have the BOV close to the TB. That way the air flow does not have to change direction when the BOV opens. The air continues to flow in the right direction so you get the boost faster when the BOV closes again.

In a short duct like that Vortech it does not matter.

Hum... ever have any issues with that discharge tube? I'm thinking I'm going to be building something like that fairly soon but going to the other side...
