question about converting non-3rd gen supercharger to my car

i'm a noob at this and need some help, so take it easy on me, i know next to nothing about superchargers. i did a search but just found bits and pieces of info.

i'm looking into getting a supercharger for my car (bone stock 87 350TPI), and i know there isn't a kit made especially for my car. i think vortech had some for 88-92 f-bodies, but they're a little pricey.

i've seen a number of ppl on here running paxton superchargers, which i'm leaning towards because of the price. all the paxton kits i saw were for mustangs though, so i guess my main question is how hard is it to convert a kit for a different car to work on ours?

second question...i know i'll need a high-flow fuel pump and possibly larger injectors to go with the supercharger, and i'm pretty sure that's the only upgrades that need to be done to have the s.c. performing at it's best...am i correct in thinking that?

the conversion question is probably asked alot, but i coudln't find anyting relevant. any info would be appreciated, thanks..

edit: ugh, i just found a relevant thread, that said that the 88-92 3rd gen kits would work on an 87 but you need to convert the v-belt system to a serpentine system, which requires changing the power steering, a/c, and a few other things to make it work...is this the only way to supercharge an '87? money would be tight enough buying a supercharger kit, injectors, and a fuel pump, without having to buy all the other crap

what about the non-third gen kits? still need to switch to serpentine? i'm most seriously looking at the Paxton NOVI-2000, which is either straight dis., rear dis., or front dis. (no idea what 'dis.' stands for)

Back in the day a company or two made centrifugal blower kits for the oddball belt setup used only on 86-87 motors. No more. These days it's convert back to an all v-belt setup or move up to a later single serpentine setup.

If you have some fabrication skills, it’s a piece of cake, just cut out a bracket to mount the blower wherever you want, setup a tensioner… it’s actually even less work then installing a turbo kit. If you don’t have those skills then I’d suggest that your best bet would be to convert to the serpentine setup and buy a kit, it will be cheaper then having someone do the work for you.

yeah i decided on a supercharger over going turbo because of my lack of fabrication knowledge/tools

i like the fact that a supercharger is pretty much a bolt on

guess i'll have to convert to serpentine, if it'll be cheaper than having someone fab up brackets and such

gotta resurrect this old thread..i found a complete blower setup for an 85-87 car (v-belt)..is it possible to convert that to work with an 88 serpentine? only difference would be the mounting bracket right?
