Digital Boost Q's

I am playing with the idea of BBs "race" twin turbo kit on a carburated 383 stroker. I am wondering if you can use a digital boost controller on a non computer controlled car? Would it even be worth it? Would a XS dual stage boost controller (manual) be better than the digital? If it means anything the boost controller I have been looking at is that nice one made by Blitz.

I dont know about other types out there but I am using the Innovative MSBC-1 which is a stand alone system and will control a wastegate on any turbo system, be it carb or fuel injection.

Is that made by the same people that make that wideband air/fuel meter with the memory? Where can I get some more info about it so I can read up and learn something.

www.innovativeturbo.com I'm sure they can give you all the info you need. It's been a very nice and reliable unit for the last 3 years in my car.

ok, I checked their site and it didn't really have too much info on it. So I went on a huge search and found out some really good info. My last question about the boost controller is Do you have to use their wastegates? Since I am thinking of buying the BBS kit it would be a PITA and push me away from the product.

No you dont have to use their wastegate, it will work with any single or dual part wastegates.

ok, back to bother you again.......how big is that control unit? I want to be able to mount it above my center console on my iroc and still have enough room for my XM receiver. I also read on the neon forums that, that boost controller knows what gear you are in by how many times you push the clutch? What happens if you miss a gear or something? Are these guys jsut idiots or is this how it really is? Thank you very much for the help. Anyone else have any words about other boost controllers?

Not a bother, the control unit is about 4" wide, 3 " high, and maybe 3/4" deep. Those arent exact numbers but it gives you an idea of about how big it is.

As for what the neon forums said, it can be wired in that way. It's a multi stage controller and can be wired in many ways, like you can wire a momentary switch behind a ratcheting shifter and it can change stages every time you pull the shifter back. There's also a launch stage which I have wired into my transbrake so that I know the boost will only go as high as that setting while on the transbrake(usually 14-16psi), and as soon as I let go - the car starts moving and the boost goes to my normal setting(usually 19psi for 93 octane gas). The newer revisions can do it in a time based mannor too.

Steve

Wow, it sounds like a pretty amazing unit. I want to use it on a t56 6 speed. Could I hook it up to the shifer like an auto even though it moves in that H pattern instead of a straight pattern? Rough estimate on that boost controller sounds reasonable for size.

Thats a lot of PSI that your running there. Car sounds like fun!!!!
