Ok, this one has me a bit worried, i just got my procharger on my camaro but now the actual procharger head unit has a sort of clattering sound mixed with a whine at idle, it sounds fine once you get going but at idle it just is weird

Now granted i dont know much about blowers, but this doesnt sound very good.

It's normal for the procharger. Mine does the same thing and others I'm sure will respond that they have the same sounds.

 

The engine speed accelerates at every combustion and slows down between them, this is normal and not anythin that you normally notice.

Without load on the gears in the supercharger this uneven motion will create a 'clattering' sound.

Once the compressor wheel starts consuming power and the gearbox is under load that sound will go away.

Mine has the same screeching whine to it at idle. It sounds link a horribly bad power steering pump or maybe somewhat like dragging a peice of porcelin across bare steel. I thought the same thing that you did. What model do you have?

Just like a Vortech, it's gear to gear. There is no way around the noise. If you want quiet, get a Powerdyne! They make the engine sound stock.
