The best thing to make your car perform better are to do an entire free-flowing exhaust (headers, hi-flow cat, and a good muffler) as well as upgrading the cam and intake. There are the usuals like a k/n filter and a good/full tune-up.

Yeah what he said, all the stuff "spartyon" just told you about should cost you ...hmmm...ehhhh... lets say around 1,000$ depending on types/brands/used/new . If your on a budget you should probably start off with the exhaust, k&n's, and a complete tuneup/which should be the first thing you do (never under estimate the power of a good tuneup)

First you need to ask yourself, "am I willing to spend money". Going fast isn't cheap. As stated above, go with exhaust. The Camaros exhaust is extremely restrictive. You'll feel a difference in power with exhaust. Your car will also sound better too.
It might also be worth going with a posi rear end and a high gear ratio. This proposes the question, will this car be my daily driver? 4.10's in the rear is gonna hinder your gas mileage.
If you go with headers and don't get them coated, you might want to go with a L69 dual snorkel type intake, to prevent sucking in a bunch of hot air.
On the other hand, you could just spend 1000 bucks and get a 350.
But then if you get a built 350, start saving for a new tranny, because once your slicks hook, your tranny won't last, then it'll be your rearend, then you'll want to stiffen the chasis.
Your T5 is rated up to 300 ft/lbs of torque, which is simply to little. Less than 300 ft/lbs in a 3500 lb car just isn't going to feel like a rocket. If you want speed, your transmission will need to be built.
But nonetheless, don't shy away from modding the 305, exhaust is not going to make your motor strong enough to break ****. Plus there are guys with 305's on here who run fast times with heads, cam, exhaust. I think mw66nova ran a low 13. I just feel that a 350 responds better to mods than a 305. There is no replacement for displacement.

Yup I'm that relative from point

Well I'd say go with an exhaust system first. Headers, y-pipe, Cat if you are environmental friendly (you should be), and a full cat back exhaust system. Depending on what type of system and what not that you get, you can get it all for under $1000 easy. It all depends on options, do you want coated headers so they wont rust, do you want stainless steel exhaust so that does rust. It is all choices.
By the way, you already have a K&N air filter.
As greg was saying, if you want to go quicker, go with a new posi rear end. You are running 2.73 s open. If you want more of a pick up, look to getting 3.73's. Like Greg said, 4.11's are nice too, but I don't know if I'd go that high with only a 305 and a T-5. I personally would go with 3.73's.
By the way to everybody else, I am the guy that sold him the car. I am the cousins cousin. If you don't get that, I am Codename 47's cousin.
The mods I was going to do if I had the money was going to be a posi rear end with 3.73 gears, a full exhaust system. Those were going to be the first two for sure. I'd say you can get all that done for around $1500. Even less if you pick your parts right.
I mean you can get it all done for around $600-$800 if shop smart and find some good used parts.
If you want to go new, it will cost a bit more. If you wanted coated headers and a stainless exhaust it will cost more. I think you get it.
Also, another option would be to convert it to TPI instead of TBI. That would cost somwhere around most likely $400 to $500 if you can find a full used setup.
By the way, I miss the car already

If you've got money to spend on it, you could go with a 350, rebuild it to however you like, and go with a used T-56 tranny. Then upgrade the rear end to 4.11 posi. That would give you a bit of a kick, well I guess a little more than a bit of a kick!!
