When building a motor if you want to add a power adder...Whats the difference between boost and nos when considering ring gaps?

If you ring gap for boost will that necessarily be bad or same difference if you spray ?

 

I would assume that a blower motor would need slightly more considering n2o is a much cooler charge than what any intercooler could produce.

 

If either power adder adds essentually the same amount of extra power then the extra ring gap needed would be equal.
The extra ring gap is needed becuase of the extra heat created in the combustion chamber by burning extra fuel.
The temp of the inlet ( NOS) has nothing to do with it.

Extra power = extra combustion heat... requireing larger ring gaps. Most piston manufacturers supply ping gap recomendations for N/A and supercharged/ NOS applictions.

100hp is 100hp of heat acting on the piston top and rings.

 

Look it up in a vizard book. I'm sure he says something about it, although I cant remember. I do remember him building a 900 hp nitrous motor for about 3500 dollars, though.
