Turbo ?'s
I wanted to know, what is the ideal compression for a v-8 turboed to about 6-7psi?

not positive. but 8.5 to 9 is good.. which is stock compression on most of the camaros.. the HO's hda like 9.5 i think.. of course.. depending on what you are going to run along with then it is anyones guesstimate.. but everyone i talk to says 8.5 to 9 is a good range...

Thanks, I was also wondering if putting 350 heads with 64cc chambers on a stock 305 would lower the compression from 9.5:1 to around 8.5:1 because i have a set of mildly ported heads with good vavles and seals.

With 8.5 compression you can run higher boost than 7 psi in fact you could probably do 10 psi with out much worry. assuming your timing is good and your running 91 or better octane and your quench is not bad.

I ordered my 383 with 8:1 but i plan on running 15 psi on 93 octane pump gas.

that's like asking what is the ideal compression for any engine… a downright stupid question without any details.
I could build an 11:1 engine that would be fine with that boost and I could build an 8.5:1 engine that wouldn’t tolerate it, and even then it would depend on what that boost is coming from, what the boost curve looks like and where exactly you see that boost relative to the torque peak.
On the other hand, with the safety leaway built into most cars, you can run that on most stock engines…
