building mild 350 TPI, NO2 safety ???s w/in
Im in the process of building a mild 350 tpi for my 87 z28. Im using 64cc centerbolt heads, flat top cast(might go hypereutectic, not sure) and a 218 224 cam with 112 sep and 480 lift. as for the efi,im using an afpr, 19lb injectors(off my 305 setup, they have less than 500 miles on them)brand new fuel pump/sock/filter/newer fuel pump, mildly porting intake and im hoping for an accel super coil, might even get a 6a if I can get the cash up. the tranny is a 273(277?) posi, and an auto now with a WCT5 in the garage waiting on pedals. my question. with roughly 9.5/10-1 compression, and the combo I described, would a 75/100 shot of NO2 be dangerous to the motor? would I be grenading a new motor or is this safe? please let me kno any thoughts, as this about a month from now

The engine build should be ok with nitrous use if assembled correctly. If in doubt you may want to consider forged pistons for the added safety factor. I don't think you mentioned upgrading the fuel system. A performance fuel pump will help prevent fuel starvation. A lean condition will destroy any motor but is certain dooms day for a nitrous motor. You can get a 255 ltr/hr pump for a resonable price. You didn't mention if you intended to use a dry or wet system. Off the shelf wet systems are designed to run stock fuel pressures. Less than stock pressures will create a lean condition and greater than stock pressures will create a rich condition. To use the 19 lbs/hr injectors you will likely need to increase fuel pressure or use a custom prom. you might want to consider larger injectors. The stock 350 injectors are 22 lbs/hr. Alot of people use SVO 24 lbs/hr injectors because of their low price. If you intend to use a dry nitrous system you will certainly want to use larger than 19 lbs/hr injectors.

i think that a mild rebuild or a stock engine is supposedly capable of a 125hp shot of nitrous. thats cast crank, cast pistons, stock rods. the hyperuwhatevers will hold a little more nitrous i think
