Building the ultimate SC'ed engine

I'm looking for everyones opinion on what would be the best STREET DRIVEN supercharged smallblock...and also let me know your reasoning why you think that your combination is the best...I'm looking for ideas on what block? what cu.in? what compression? stroker or not? what boost level? etc.....

I know opinions are like a$$holes...everyone has one...and they all stink!!! but let's hear'em anyways

here is my idea of the best blown street engine. Start with a 434 short block add some AFR 227 heads and a miniram that has been worked over to balance the flow into all cylinders. mount an ATI D1 up to it or a paxton novi 2000 would do fine. Get a power stroke intercooler and mount it infront of the radiator. Use a mild cam like the zz-9 and Run 16 psi of boost through it and there you go 1000+ streetable horse power. well not streetable for long but you could get grocerys in it if you are nice to it. With good traction and chassis you might hit 7's with this combo.

mods
full exhaust, AFPR, pulley, jet stage 1 chip, billet servo, 52mm throttle body, slp runners and some 1.6 RR's and a few other little things.
243 RWHP and 342 RWTQ with hot engine and 90 octain fuel

what do you mean "Not Streetable for long" would this combo deteriorate somthing? would it make somthing worse? break somthing? are you refering to the engine lodeing up around town and at stoplights? or was it just a silly comment about taking a 7 second car to a grocery store?

IF cost isnt a factor 406,fully ported AFR 195s,Miniram,ATI D1.If cost is a factor(duh, usually is)355,AFR 195 out of box,Gm forged crank, any brand name rod,TRW blower pistons,Blower cam,D1.Wait a minute this sounds like my combo ,Im a bit biased but heh,my opinion right?Well anyway Maniacc,my motor on the dyno, put out 400hp at 5800 and 410lbft at 4800,on motor alone. So its pretty healthy. With 10 - 12lbs you imagine what kind of numbers.I think the 355 is the best combo in my opinion, because #1 my parts are not exotic,#2 it made some serious #s for what I have,#3 I didnt spend a fortune, well a small one anyway, biggest expense was the manifold and TB and fuel stuff.Motor ran me about $4000-$5000,but this is complete,Flywheel, balencer, polished timing cover,GMPP Cast aluminum polished covers, self aligning rockers etc,all assembled. The pictures I sent Guido and Procharged know how it looks, besides the serpintine brackets in the picture ,that is how it came.I know 383 is an option, but I wanted to stay with the 350,383 would be nice but everyone and their brother has one.I would have gone this way but as I will say here why stop there,go 406,its only a little more, this is only a little more, only a bit more and you can get much stronger parts etc,I had to draw the line and come up with a plan before I spent 1 dollar so things wouldnt get out of hand,it can very easily,my friend is going threw this as we speak. He started off with a 355 ,then the builder talked with him and the budget he set is almost tripled.

The thing about going 383 over a 355, is that if your going to upgrade your crank to a forged crank, it wont cost much more at all to go 383 then. If you reuse your stocker crank, then most guys stick with 355.

The 400 smallblock blocks have been known to split under a lot of boost, but they make awesome power.

Basically. people have had great luck with 355, 383, and 406+ motors .

Different blower companies out there also make similiar power. ATI, Paxton and Vortech all make blowers now that can exceed 20+PSI on hogged out motors. Not to mention custom TURBO kits!!
There are many ways to make incredible power, and no one combo is the best IMHO.
If I were to build something all out sickening..It would be a T-88 Turbo setup on a 355 for sure.

Another nice benefit to staying 350 as opposed to going to a 400 block is that the smaller bores are more resistant to detonation. In a blown application, I have yet to see a 383 dyno more than a 350 above 3000 rpms <shrug>

I'm probably going with the CNC'd AFR 195's, 4340 crank and rods, and a custom piston to match the chamber. The combustion chamber, valves, piston, and ports will be coated, and I will be using a single plane fuel injected intake like the VicJr or similar. I haven't decided whether its worth the $1600 for the CNC Sportsman bowtie block or if I should grab a 2 bolt block and have splayed caps and all the machine work done. The block and heads will be o-ringed as well.

I would say that you would want a 420 with a intercooled procharger to really whoop some *** . Better yet, a 420 with twin turbos. Come to think of it, both are too much of a pain in the *** to tune correctly.

How about a 500hp 420 with a 250hp shot of nitrous, it'll run in the 9's and you might be able to hide how fast the car is (i.e. no blower whine).

I asked this question a few months ago. No one that answered was running a 383 or greater with a S.C. Ill ask again "Is there anyone out there running a stroker with a supercharger?" I am half way there building what I feel is the best street supercharged combo. 383 TRW 21cc reverse dome all forged I beam rods scat crank 4 bolt block balanced .There is much more and sometimes I feel like im treading in uncharted waters so if someone else is doing this let me know.

well off the top of my head her are a few:
-George Baxter 1997 30th Z28 = 9.7s w/ a 383 stroker
-Tory Hess 87 formula(last year) = 10.00 flat with a 406 and T-trim
-Guido 86 IROC times TBA 406 with S-trim
-GMI FAST 89 Formula = old combo 10.37 w/ 383 stroker and S-trim
-89ProchargedROC (next season) 89 IROC = 400 w/ ATI D-1SC

those are just some off the top of my head and there are plenty more...

Transformer, actually a 383 blown car is the norm these days. Most guys run forged internals, and like I mentioned earlier, it is not much more money to stroke it at this point, so many do.
383 with and S/C are proven to make serious power. I built one that hit 130 mph in the 1/4 and passed emmisions.

The pistons are a little shorter on a 383, and the ring gaps are set up higher, which make them a tad weaker than a 355 motor, but quality parts will take the abuse of a poweradder no problems.
