new Track Times 7/14/01

Went to e-town in New Jersey today and ran an 11.31 @ 120 today. i had fun but there is still some power to be unlocked. Just figuring it out is what I have cut out for me.

i got to meet a few new people! I met Anris and PRESTON SMITH! And also tory Hess and Don Barnett were out.

I had a blast.
Where were you Justin? Don looked for you all day on his bike.

Very nice Guido. Refresh our memory, the ones with short term memory loss; what was your original goal and do you feel you can obtain it (if you haven't already)?

Damn,

I didn't know you were there, otherwise I would have said hello. I saw Andris' car and was parked right next to Preston's when I got in (the Blue Acura TL with tinted windows right behind the stands). I also saw a few others there.

I do have to say it was not as good as past events, both in number of cars and the average ETs. I saw half a dozen GNs that never ran better than 14.50 and only a few cars driven in running 12.0 or better.

I might have your car on video, I taped all the thirdgens and C4 Vettes untill I left about 1:30.

I have 27 degrees of timing by 2600 or so rpms and its full on all the way up to the top.

My belt is defenitley slipping. I amonly getting 9psi and there is a lot of belt shaving on the blower. The brackets flexes easily so I am going tosee if I can fabricate some sort of brace so it wont flex under boost.

I need to mess with timing some more and also driving the car. There is a lot left in it Im positive. this is only the 2nd time I have had it out with the new combination so I am pretty ahppy with the results so far.

Another thing I noticed is that mmy TPS was only registering %80 and we fixed that for the last run but I had shifter problems and did not get to see if it helped with that extra %20but i am sure that may be why I am only reaching 120 mph in the 1/4.

Preston ran an 11.02 @ 124 on 16psi and drag radials. He is still running the tec II setup.

10.50 is my goal for this year. I think it will take cool air to do it, but I am pretty sure that it will happen.

Paul, my IROC is the blue one with Hoosier slicks on the back of it. I ran in the fastest f-body class.

Guido,
First of all, congrats on the times. You are definetaly moving now. You'll be in the 10's soon enough I'm sure. Wait for the cooler weather. As far as me being there, boy have I got a story for you! I left late at about 10:00 w/out my GTA. I haven't gotten around to the fuel pump or FMU yet, although I will be doing the fuel pump this Friday. So, that's why I left late and took my cutlass. I had the GTA out w/ the blower for the first time on Friday the night before e-town. Anyway, there was REDICULOUS traffic on 440 and it took me over 3 hrs to get there. I didn't get there till after 1pm. They closed the gates and I was told I couldn't get in till after 2:30 when they were letting the bikes in for the wheelie comp. So, by now I was pissed. I had called in the morning and they said High Tech eliminator wasn't going on untill like 4-5pm, then the bike elim was at 8pm. Besides that, I watched a ton of gm's leaving at 2:00. So I said I'm not paying $30 to watch bikes, and I left. I had to fight 4hrs of traffic on the way home too. What a Sucky day! I would have loved to meet you all, especially you & Don, but so be it. I was so pissed. I even brought a video camera w/ a minute or two of my car's engine bay w/ the blower on it for you and Don to see. But atleast the guys at bellmore Friday all saw it running (steve TTA850 etc.). It runs great and sounds awesome. The other day I took it up to about 3-4 lbs boost at like 1/3-1/2 throttle and it pulled like a son of a Bitch, and the rear got pretty lose when I hit second. Boy I can't wait till I can stomp on it at WOT. Anyway, the pump goes in Friday, and I will get some times at LI Dragway in a couple of weeks, after I finish everything off, and tune it. I DEFINATELY will be at GM high tech III, this Oct, but hope you guys can meet me at E-Town sooner if possible. I just hope my tranny survives. So that's about it I guess. what a sh*t day. I'm glad I didn't bring the GTA and put it through all that traffic. I met a guy that pulled up right behind me and was from my town, he left too, and was pissed. He happens to have an 89 GTA that runs 13,7's w/ bolt-ons. he left his home too. he got his in early 96, i got mine in 95. He's looking at getting serious w/ his soon also. I hope we can all meet soon. andy ideas? Maybe you come out to LI Dragway????? later -Justin

I may be back out in October depending on how my project is coming along at that time. I am planning on selling my vortech after the bowling green NFRA race.

Going to see how I can do with a turbo.
