Stroked 305
Yes I am an idiot and I decided to stroke a 305. Was wondering if anyone would have an idea what my engine will run once I finish getting it in the car. 305 .030 over 400 crank. (Yes I know that I only have 15 thousanths of an inch bigger bore than stroke). I'm running a set of Eagle Sir Bushed 5.7 rods Keith Black 9.5:1 compression pistons. "041" heads from a 69 chevelle. and my cam is 224/230 @50 w/ .477 .480 lift. I'm still running the stock intake, carb, distributor and 2 1/4" exhaust. Anyone have an idea on my peak hp and tq?

Car: '86 IROC-Z + Misc. project cars.
Engine: Supercharged + Nitrous TPI 355 CID
Transmission: Art Carr built Th700r4
I remember reading an article a few years ago on a 334 stroker in Car Craft or Hotrod or one of the other rags. They put together one with a crank/rod/piston kit (I think from Coast). I don't remember for sure but I think they used Trickflow heads. Peak HP was around 350. I don't remember what the torque was but it was pretty good due to that long stroke.
Your "square" stoker motor resembles the bore stroke relationship of the 396 LT1 stokers.

Don't worry about your bore to stroke relationship. The new Northstar and 4.6 stang engines are both square and make plenty of power and good emissions. Just be carefull of detonation problems. I know that 305s were bad about that before stroking them out. Also make sure that your rod bolts don't hit you cam lobes.
Good Luck!

Well I did have the car running 2 weeks ago until the carb decided to leak gas on the intake and then in about the time it took me to get the fire extinguisher my car no longer ran. When it was running though got into it a lil from a stop (3800 rpm into it) and the tail end started heading for the ditch. So I know one problem that I'm going to have (besides my car wanting to be a real Firebird) is traction. With the stock 3.23 spider's in the rear didn't think it'd kick out that quick. Anyone else have this problem?

I have an LG4 305 nestled between my fenders. I'm looking to make this ride my daily cruiser. Thing is I'm looking for a little more perfomance, so my trip to work is a little more exciting. The car is stock as a rock accept for the 16X8 IROC rims I scored for $50. I'm new to the game and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've heard that stroker 305's perform really well,I wouldn't mind building one in the future.

You can pickup a kit from Powerhouse for around 600. I didn't do that when I built mine, It's cheapor to do it that way but I wanted to make sure all the parts I used where going to last. I bought a regular ole 400 Crank and had it ground down. Decided to go with a set of 5.7" bushed Eagle Sir Rods (Love full floating pistons). Then I went for a set of Keith Black pistons PN# KB186. Also got a B&M 400 flywheel. So far I have about 2,000 in my engine alone. Yes I know I could have built a 350 cheaper but it's fun telling people I have a SB 334. They can never figure it out.

I work with a guy at night(moonlighting)and we are buillding a powerhouse 335 for a guy he knows. we started filing the top rings tonight, keith black pistons. the stroker kit is ok, KP pistons, looks like stock recondtioned rods, and the crank. he is putting a SLP cam in it, which one i cant remember right now. touqer S/R heads, edelbrock headers and cat back, roller rockers, edelbrock lower, different runners, dont remember which upper, accel this, flowmaster that. the thing should run really freakin good. the only thing we are wondering about is, what fuel pressure to run? any ideas?
