turbo/blower questions

ok, my brother just put a 6-71 blower on his 70 pickup and the thing is awsome. i have an 88 iroc that we labatomized ( removed the 305 tpi and the computer and put in a carb 350) i really want to turbo it but i think it is a pain in the *** plus its ugly. would it be better to go with a 144 blower or a single or even dual turbo setup??? i realy like the blowers but turbo is exotic. i dont really care about cost here any suggestion is welcome. i talk to pony boys who like turbos but they all have injection and i aint getten rid of the holly. help me decide thanks all

oh yea, where can i find info bout turbos for the third gens? thanks

I'm not familure with the type of blower that you're talking about, but if it's a centrifigual blower then you're going to have all of the problems that you'll have with a turbo(oil feed and drain, plus pressurizing a carb). A twin turbo setup will install pretty clean if you don't want to use a intercooler. The best way that I know of to turbo carbs is to run a small tube from the compressor out tube to the float bowl(this involves drilling). This will allow you to run without any exotic parts. I don't know a lot about Q-jets, but if that is what you're running then you need to richen the mixture in the secondaries, but you should be able to get away with stockers on the primary side. You'll need to upgrade you fuel system either way you go or the engine will run lean at WOT and burn up. Then just seal the comp out to the top of the carb. Using an intercooler will improve your efficiency with either a blower or turbo by 50%, but involves more tubing. The hardest part will be finding flanges for the exhaust manifold to the hot side of the turbos. A blower setup would probably be easier, but turbos are much cooler(not many people do it).

Sorry, missed the part about the Holley. Now I'm in familure territory. Bigger jets on the Secondaries are a must. Primaries might be ok, you'll have to keep an eye on it. You'll need more aggressive floats and a high flowing fuel pump. The squirters and cams should be ok because of the turbo lag. If you don't want to drill the bowls in the holley, you'll have to run a sealed box around the whole carb(throttle cable, vacuum tubes, everything). The reason for this is that if the pressure in the venturies is greater than atmospheric then no fuel gets sucked into the manifold. That is why the bowls need to be pressurized. Good luck.

All I have to say is that I am twin turbo-ing my Z-28 as we speak and it has been a pain in the ***. But It'll be a wild ride when I'm done. The blower would definately be easier but as Stormshadow said, Less Parasitic.

So if you can put a turbo on a thirdgen, you could also put on a blow-off valve??? I think i'ma have to do this, cause i actually do think that's the most awesome thing about imports, the, "pppshshhhh" sound releasing pressure from the turbo
