ATI Intercooler with a Vortech (compressor housing rotation)"Pics added!"
I tried to rotate the outlet of the compressor, like the on the Procharger, this weekend. I had to do a little grinding of the mounting bracket but now it fits fine. As added strength, I bolted a piece of billit aluminum to the back of the SC bracket. Now all I have to do is get the intercooler.
My next experiment is leaving the battery in the stock location, but moving it closer to the radiator to make more room for the intercoler pipe..

Thanks for the info. I located the cruise control on the other side of the strut tower, near the fire wall, when I originlly installed the supercharger.

Sorry anesthes, no pics of my car. My camera broke.
If you loosen the allen head bolts on the housing it will rotate to any angle you want and you will see the interference. Just keep test fitting and remove the material on the bracket untill it doesen't touch.
I actually didn't get an intercooler yet. Still deciding between the twin high flow and three core.
I found these. You might have seen these before, but I think they might help. He is using a ATI 2 core intercooler. He used an outlet housing from a mustang. The only problem is you loose some boost through the 90* L.

How much boost does he loose? Do you know? I'm in the same situation as you (Vortech S/C but want to use ATI I'C setup) and I have a feeling my setup will end up looking alot like those pics.

I think he told me 2-3 lbs. But that curved outlet housing costs you most of it.

what if you requested a head unit with a conventional (non camaro) housing when you order?
okay, i had to revamp this thread,...I still can't find a pic on how to do this reclocking of the blower discharge tube, and '91 formulas blower discharge part is differnt, his points to the firewall. does anyone have pics of how it's done with my s-trim with the discharge port facing the passenger side? thanks

Justin, if you look on your compressor housing, there are bolts that hold little brackets around the perimeter of the housing. If you take these loose, you can turn the whole compressor housing.
Is there anything i have to watch out for? Gaskets, problems, anything inside that's gonna fall apart? Also, once i rotae it,... will it fit back inot the bracket properly? and which way will it aim,. towards the driver fender exactly? I'd appreciate any pics. thansk a lot! thanks for the reply -Justin

Justin that is not my car. Those are pics of someone elses car that gave me the idea.
The rotation can be done with the stock housing. It will end up close to where the ATI intercooler pipe comes out of the fender, just like the ATI blower does.
