Just bought ATI D1SC need advice

Hi guys,

Ive never really come into the poweradder board before, but here's the scoop. I just bought the D1SC to put on my L98, however i plan on rebuilding this winter, what modifications do you guys recommend as far as doing the rebuild, what heads, cam combination is good, do i need new pistons, what do you suggest without going overboard, it's just a street car, and basically a daily driver in the summer.

P.S. The guy i bought the SC from didnt include the intercooler, how much could i pick one up for ?

intercooler is quite expensive; you should get one new or in very good condition. preferably two would be your best bet; but that depends on your budget and amount of boost your looking to achieve.

From what i read i can only go about 5-6 psi on my stock engine, and with a intercooler i could go about 9-10 i would definatly buy the intercooler, what would you suggest as far as a rebuild ?

I would look on ebay first though... they have had a slew of intercoolers for sale... VERY cheap.... I don't know what kind of compatibility problems there are... Anyone?

You can kit the intercooler kit through ATI with all the piping for around $1000, i would check with some procharger dealers you might be able to get it cheaper through them.

As far as the engine goes keep the compression down around 9:1, get forged pistons, good set of heads, and a special ground blower cam.

intercoolers can be many different variations, most ATI IC's are air/air, most vortech IC's are air/water.

air/air IC's are better for the street, as you have a infinate supply of air to cool the IC, and the colder the ambient temp the more effective the IC becomes. The down fall to these IC's is your restricted to the outside ambient temp, so if it's 100 degrees outside, you'll only be able to cool the intake charge to slightly above 100 degrees.

Air/water IC's are great for the track and consistency, put in ice cold water into the reservoir and your ready to go.

hope this is of some help too ya
