Isn't this cam a little too much???

"Dur." Int/224 Exh/236 "Lift" Int/536 Exh/555 and 114 Sep.

thoes are the #'s I got when I called Compcams to get a Custom Grind for my motor I'm building in spring

383, 6" rods, 2.02 1.60 Twisted Wedge Or AFR, "not shure yet" 8.5-1 compression, D1Sc ATI 12 PSI or so, Ported TPI SLP runers ...Bla Bla Bla all the rest

ok I did tell him that I live In CA and have to have it pass smog and I am running TPI Computer controlled and everything else above I listed
"BTW I told him Twisted Wedge for the heads but I dont think that will matter"

now don't you think that's kinda big for smog in CA?.. let alone a motor of that build??

Let me know what you think? it sounds like a little to much to me

No that's really not big at all, especially for a 383. A bigger motor eats up more duration. I really don't know about passing emissions but it should be a great cam for that motor. Good luck

In my opinion I think the cam is a little large being all that you have is the SLP runners. It would work much better with the Super Ram Base and better with the whole system. I don't think you can pass emissions without a really good program or a DFI. But that 383 will make some really nice power and torque. It'll be fun to drive. Like I said this is just my opinion.

Don't go with Twisted Wedge heads, as you'll be limited to .510 lift. Any higher than that & you'll have piston-to-valve interference. Use AFR or Brodix heads. That cam is pretty big, but I think you can go a little higher, like 236/242, or the like. Good luck!
