Help me create a dummy nitrous set-up

Hey guys I need some help creating a dummy nitrous set-up. So far I have the bottle, but I'm not sure which fittings and what size line I need. I am basically trying to show the different components involved in a nitrous set-up. My bottle is a ZEX 15lb if that makes any difference. Any help would be appreciated.

A non-operational N2O setup is not a power adder. It is a power reducer due to the extra weight. This should be moved.

I think he is trying to setup a demonstration for maybe a school project? Not just a dummy setup to be "cool".

Seems kind of strange for someone to ask what they need for a N2O setup so they can teach others about N2O.

Your best bet is to go to the Zex website and see what else is involved. You really need pictures and not words to understand what you need.

Is this setup going to be operational or for show?

This is going to be for show, though I would like to use all the proper equipment incase I would ever want to install it in a vehicle. I have been looking at different nitrous websites, but I figured I would ask on here and piece something together rather than drop $100 on a kit that won't even be used.

In that case, go to ebay and get a used -4AN line, a worn-out or tiny solenoid, and a spray bar/plate. You should be able to pick that stuff up rather cheap.

here is a company that makes a purge kit...it doesn't connect to your engine...but you can pruge nitrous out of a line from the bottle....looks real.

Confused here, First you want parts that could be used in a car.........then you don't want to spend money for parts that are usable.

I never understood shelling out good money for parts that make people think a car is fast. It makes losing all that much worse because the amount lost by is amplified.

EDIT: at $4.50 / lb, why would anyone want to blow it into the atmosphere with a purge kit? Who in there right mind would buy something like that?

I guess someone who doesn't want to run nitrous to their engine and who doesn't really race. Just for show purposes.

Or just put the bottle in your back seat, run a line under the hood and open the valve to waste nitrous into the air. CO2 is cheaper than nitrous and will look exactly the same being wasted. Honestly why don't you actually hook the nitrous up?

purging a nitrous system serves a purpose besides showing off. It allows you to bleed any air out of the line which can cause you to inject fuel and not fuel/nitrous for a split second. For a nitrous kit, expect to spend a bit more then $100, fake or not. I bet some guy with a honda will love to have a crack at a "juiced" F-body.

btw, this is the most worthless thread ever IMO.

To the few of you who come off as ignorant, I'm fully aware of the purpose of a purge kit. I don't know why it matters that this will be functional or for a class project? I guess I should have known that like most things around here when you ask a question you ususally receive 90% opinion and 10% answers. Anyways, thanks.

I think its just that most people share the opinion of a fake nitrious kit being kind of lame.

You should just run the purge right into the interior, that way when you lose, you really won't care.

I like that.

82Firebird,
This thread fell apart because it never really belonged here to begin with it. It should have been moved. As with all threads that don't require any real technical info, everyone one can jump in say something because there is nothing hi-tech or confusing to them. That is the way of threads like this. If you posted something like "help me design the valve control for my quad sequential turbo set-up" then you would have had maybe 1 response.
Don't take any of the repsonses to heart. No one really understands what you are trying to do with the system and you won't say what it is you are really after.

This whole question is ignorant! We can't tell you what size lines you need because you're NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH THE NITROUS. If you want a demonstration kit run the cheapest line that'll handle the pressure possible. It's just a valve that injects something, no rocket science here. If you want a fake kit then get whatever size line is coming off of your bottle nut (which we have no clue, you never posted pics or mentioned it) run it to the same size fitting on the IN side of a solenoid, then run a 1/8 pipe fitting with a copper hose to wherever you want the nitrous to spray out of your car, then fill the bottle up with CO2 or nitrous and go nuts. BTW your bottle nut will be either 4an or 6an, these and 1/8 npt are about the only size fittings you'll run into, and since from what we can gather by your sparse information you won't need a nozzle, or jets, or to know what else would be needed for a wet or dry shot. PS if you want the bottle to look like the guy you bought your speaker box from, just buy 2 foot of braided line and 1 fitting, then tuck the line under the box; PPS you're just to cool for words man, if you don't like the forum quit posting on it.
