how much NOS
Hi all, iam planning on buying the NOS wet kit for my 2 year old (rebiult) L98.
what kind of shot is ok for my motor. the kit has the ability for 150 shot is that too much for the stock motor, if so what is the limit.

I've ran about 6 bottles of 100hp shot with no problems. Just make sure you have fresh plugs (not platinum tips), an aftermarket coil, good plug wires, stock timing and/or bump up the octane (93+) and you're good. Keep the bottle pressure between 850 and 1050 lbs to get the right fuel/nitrous mix and have fun. Unless you have radials you're wasting your time but if you decide to hit the 150 shot, definately stock timing and 100 octane is a must. Try using a colder set of plugs too.

thanks, that helped alot. and by the way i have MSD, and i use the stock rated plugs and gap. i'll pro. use 4* (if not lower) timeing with the 100 shot(with 93 octane).
i know people with cast stock bottom ends running 200 shots with retarded timing, colder spark plugs, running 93 octane through the carb and 100 through a dedicated line / pump for nitrous.
as long as you tune the car right you shouldn't have a problem. the only difference between cast and forged pistons is forged are more forgiving towards detonation...eliminate detonation and the pistons will proform equaly.

I have a Walbro 255 in tank pump, almost 200,000 miles on my completely stock TPI engine and I have ran several bottles of nitrous through my engine on a 150 shot (.070 nitrous .041 fuel). The car still managed to pull off a 13.9 on motor at the track last outing. Stock heat range plugs gapped to .035, stock timing, and 93 octane pump gas. I would recommend a cooler Tstat like a 180 and drilling a small hole in the flange as well. I used to run this combo on street tires and it was fine as long as you used logic and didn't spray right off the line.

Street Tires + L98 + 150 shot off the line = pro stock burnout, trust me I've tried it the car will shoot to about 7000 and glaze your tires in an instant, you won't go ANWYHERE. With the ET Streets I spray right off of the line as soon as the stall flashes in but that's a different story

i also have a Jet stage2 chip. should i pull this and use the stock chip, or will i be safe just by retarding the timing.

another tip: be aggressive with taking away timing and adding octane, hold off on the heat range of the plugs b/c in case of problems your plugs will take the hit instead of the pistons. All three should change one interval every 100 horsepower of nitrous. (1 stage of plug, 2/3 degrees of timing)

Why woulde you hold off on the plug change? If you melt the plugs thay will make the motor detonate and do more damadge. Also if the motor starts to pop or surge on you run let off the button and check your plugs. If you have any burnt plugs you may want to consider doing a comp test.

If you run the 100hp shot, just throw a couple of gallons of 100+ octane in with your fuel to be safe. The chip should be o.k. Like I said, throw a fresh set of plugs in. Two things are important: good spark and good octane.
its not for people with small shots. but for bigger shots like 200-300 horse shots on big motors when your jumping to c12 and c16 or even 120nos gas jumping 3 stages colder then 4 will kill the plug before detonation and the cylinder won't fire saving a piston.

I have used from 175-325 plate kits and have never heard of or tried the burn your plug method not saying I have never burned a plug but I never tried to use it as a saftey.
