Anyone interested in a custom N2O solenoid/fuel pressure regulator mount?

I came up with, what I think is a cool idea, a custom plate to rest under my nitrous/2"carb spacer plate. Below is a quick PAINT drawing (which doesn't do it justice). I spent an hour drawing one to scale and making sure it would fit my application, Wieand Team G 850 Demon 2" spacer 3/4" nitrous plate and Mallory Unilite distributor.

I talked to a local water jet machining company and he told me 125/hr plus the material. He also said the more I order the cheaper it would be. The shape of the plate is in a Chevy BowTie configuration. I was even thinking of having CHEVEROLET or CAMARO cut out of the driver's side but he was telling me that each cut is more money.

If there is enough interest I can get a quote for a total price. Post here to let me know if you would like one.

Does anybody need a better way to mount their solenoids? I can change the design if its not appealing. Basically I just want a good looking plate for both noids and a regulator. Let me know what you are interested in and I can change designs.

I came up with a better design and am going to do it. If you want one let me know. Should be about 30 bucks each when said and done. I haven't seen any with a regulator mount so if you want to clean up that nitrous/fuel setup this is it. All other companies only offer mounts for solenoids only.

that one looks pretty f'n sweet, if you said you can get then for 30 bucks i'll deffinately take one. im assuming this is for 4150 carb?, is there any way you could get them with no holes in them (for solenoids and regulator, i may wat to be able to drill my own for different angleing of them

What I am going to do is not have the holes cut out since different solenoids have a little bit different mounting positions as well as the regulators. This will be for a 4150 style square bore intake/carb combo. I am hoping the price to be 30 but it might be 40 depending on how much they charge me for materials.

It is at the machine shop as we speak. He is going to cut one for me and give a quote off of that. He said He won't know the material until he can place multiples on a sheet. We shall see. Probably won't be ready until the new year.

I am too. The original machine shop was soo busy at the time because of the holidays and getting the projects done. They flat out told me they didn't have the time. I took it to another shop and they said they could do it but couldn't give me a quote until the new year. Still haven't heard. The drawing is with them and the machinist said he would draw it up. I am going to call tonight.

Update

Finally got a quote. They are going to be 37.50/ea. I was going to purchase 20+ but since the demand isn't here I am only going to order 5 which is why the price is a little higher. It would have been 32~for 20 plus. I am going to have him start cutting them. Will let you know when they are in.

Peter,

What are they being made from? I could have sold them to you out of 304 stainless steel for about $25.00 each

P.M. Me if interested

They are being cut from 1/8" aluminum. I am not aware of what grade. He actually called me back and told me 28.50. That is the new number. Personally I don't like the look of stainless, but to each his own. As of now each part is 28.50. Probably looking at 35 shipped. Compare that to the price of the Wilson plates that only hold the solenoids for 70 bucks a pop!

That is the price. The business/finance guy and I have been playing phone tag all week to make a payment but apparently they are in the midst of cutting them in their spare time. Hopefully I can have them by the end of next week.

hows the clearance between the distributor and the rear solenoid, look like they are right against each other.. could you possibly take another picture of that specific area? One more thing, im not sure i get how your fuel systm is working? it the fuel coming up through the fuel filter thats mounted on the regulator, then flowing through the 45* fitting and then to the fuel log? if so, whats the bottome fitting for on the regulator? a return? also whats the Brand/PN on the regulator? looks clean im excited to check this thing out!

Yeah, the fuel comes from the pump to that filter. On the rear side of the regulator there is a -8 hose that gooes to the carb line. The -6 on the valve cover side, which I haven't cut a hose for it yet, will feed the fuel to the solenoid. On the backside it is NOT touching the distributor. Don't know what it would be like with an HEI unit and the vacuum advance housing since mine is a mechanical distributor. One thing that I didn't forsee was how large the Demon fuel bowls were. When I mocked it up, it looked fine and now they are touching the solenoids. That really isn't too big of an issue and there is plenty of room to offset the holes for mounting. You can actually move the solenoid forward and backward more on the plate depending on how you drill the holes. I am pretty pleased with it. Don't know if it would work for those sleepers who use an HEI distributor and no carb spacers.

The regulator is a Mallory 4309. It has 4 fuel ports (1 in and 3 out) and a return which is located on the bottom on the unit.
