3.4 turbo

I have a 3.4 [93-95] that I want to turbocharge, basically stock with forged or hyper-tec pistons and pocketported heads.A goal of appox. 400 hp @6000 rpm with 12-15 lbs boost doesn't seem to be unattainable,I know that fuel and ignition management is an issue but can be solved with MS etc. This engine will be for hp street ,so quick response and drivability is valued over topend power. I noticed that alot of 3.4's are using to4e/t3's with 57-60 trim .63-.84 ar; so what do you guys think ? Need your input!

the t3/t4 t04e is a good choice.at min get a 57 trim.the ar on the ex housing is really gonna be upto u.but i think a .84 will be a lil laggy on the 3.4.

a t61 should be a lil more efficiant at those boost levels(make more power at the same boost levels as the t04e),but u may sacrifice some spool time for more power.

OKhave a bigger, looked at various maps of the t3/to4e 57,60 and t61. The t61 seems to have a larger turbine and like you said would have more lag. I checked the 57 and 60 but one set of maps show the 57 as more efficent and another site shows the 60, what's the real story.

What's the real turbo you are interested in? That will determine what map to look at.

one other thing i would like to point out is ur not gonna get 400 hp that easily.
3.1 to a 3.4 is only 18 CI, i was able to break 400hp barley @ 18 psi with fully ported heads, turbo cam ported intake, etc.not saying u cant do it,but its not as easy as most ppl think

Which turbo? Well thats what I'm trying to determine,I may have to lower my hp some I don't really wont to try and run 18 lbs. Just the best turbo for my purpose not to exceed 15 lbs. I,ve looked at both maps, for the 57 and 60 but it looks like some one mis labeled them depending on which site your at. dont know which ones to trust.

It shouldn’t be that hard to make 400bhp… optimize everything for a HP peak of around 6500rpm, intake ports that flow 160-170cfm + 9-11psi boost should get you there.

Which turbo? Well you haven’t really given enough info for someone to do anything besides give you a range. With more details, like something to fit what I just listed in the first paragraph would need to be near it’s max efficiency at about 535cfm @ a pressure ratio of 1.65-1.7, I’d probably be looking at a T60-1 or a T61 with a smallish turbine side for a single, and maybe twin T3 60Trim with .48 hot sides. Any of these would put you right in the middle of the big fat part of the efficiency map and would leave you with loads of room to grow without being big and laggy.

Post a link to the mis-labeled map. It sounded at first like you where refering to the ebay turbos when you said 57 to 60 trim TO4/T3 turbos. FirstFireBird measured and posted the results here and his ebay turbo listed by SSAC showed a 57 trim map when in fact it was a 45 trim TO4 compressor wheel size. I am not sure what maps and turbos you are eye balling, but just be aware that ebay sellers post a lot of incorrect information.

I was bouncing around diff. map sites and to be truthful I may have gotten on a t61 map instead of a t60-1. I'm pretty much set on a true t3/t04e 57 trim or the t3/to4e with 60 trim 60 ar comp. / 63 ar turbine as adv. at turboelements.
