NOS and fuel questions
NOS and fuel questions
I am getting ready to get a some sort of fuel system in place on my car. Ive read alot of stuff on here about my options but nothing that fits the description for what i am looking for.
I currently have a TPI pump in the tank and am going to be running a carb setup. Im looking to get upwards of 600hp this year and plan on a 250 shot of NOS. Couple questions.
Will the TPI pump and a mallory regulator do the job? I plan on buying the carb system from Dynotune anyone use this one yet LINK ? If the TPI pump and regulator wont supply enough fuel what will?
TIA

Re: NOS and fuel questions
skip the TPI pump and go to a bigger walbro 255lph. Run a separate fuel system for the nitrous and that should keep up alright. Or sump your stock tank, run 1/2"+ lines and a big single pump like an A2000 aeromotive and you'd be fine that way as well.
Re: NOS and fuel questions
So buy a walbro and the 4309 mallory then were do i plumb in the 2nd fule line for the n2o? anyone wanna show off there paint shop skillz i have no idea ho to plumb any of this im trying to learn
Re: NOS and fuel questions
Also i was thinking about some kind of timing retard system so i could have 2 settings in car one for n/a then 150 and 250.. I haven't bought my ignition setup yet either so give me some advice

I don't believe the walbro will keep up, you'd need a dedicated fuel cell and pump for nitrous as well. Now for the timing retard, MSD sells a box that you can turn a dial to retard different amounts, which would work nicely.

Re: NOS and fuel questions
Well if you want 600 hp on motor you're probably gonna need the Walbro just for that, you'll need another fuel cell(one gallon or so) that mounts in the front of the car, a pump and regualtor for the nitrous alone, 250 shot will take a lot of fuel from the rails on the hit, which is why you should go with the dedicated system. and again i agree with the MSD retard dial, i think you can retard up to 15* on that, and it should be able to wire in with an MSD box. Since you dont have any sort of ignition already, the digital 6 has a 2 stage rev limiter and a built in nitrous retard system, though im not sure how much you can actually retard with the box this is the box im going with. You might also want to look into a progressive controller, 250 instant HP will probably light up those tires easily. Hope this helps answer you questions
Re: NOS and fuel questions
Yea that helps alot. What kind of fuel pump should i use for the cell? Do you run a return line for the cell or is it just a single line. I can get a 6al for a decent price will that be enough? Im pretty sure like you said all there stuff can wire into one another. I have a msd streetfire distributor right now i bought last year should i pitch it and get a pro billet one to complete the setup?

Re: NOS and fuel questions
6al doesn't have a timing retard, that box is bought separate. So what is your 600hp motor combo? Typically people that have a 600hp motor built know how to setup a fuel system is what I'm getting at.
Re: NOS and fuel questions
I said im looking for 600. if i get 550 ill be happy it a 383 stroker 10:1 compression full forged roating assemble dart pro 1 alum heads. Im getting advice because i want to make 0 mistakes. This is all about trial and error and the beauty of this board is people have tried many combos already. Im trying to get it done once get it done right don't be like the school teacher that expects you to know everything before you walk in the class room just because it may be a high HP engine doesnt mean i know how to build The BEST fuel system for it. But thanks for your input

Re: NOS and fuel questions
not trying to be rude, if you look I'm basically the only one answering these questions.....
the nitrous fuel cell only typically runs a 1 gallon cell, a holley blue or black and a regulator line to the nitrous. No return line typically, and as long as your dizzy works with the box you'll be fine no need to buy another msd dizzy.

Re: NOS and fuel questions
Thanks for all the help. I'm pretty sure the distributor will work with a 6al or what ever. i think you just take the coil out of it and run the blaster 3. I really hope this all comes together good. Have to decide on a torque converter company yet and buy the exhaust and my car will be pretty much done

i'd go true duals with hooker long tubes, the headmann S-pipe extensions, then the H-pipe connecting them, along with some round mufflers of your choice to tuck it up nicely and dump at the rear axle.

LT's and TD's FTW!
Re: NOS and fuel questions
Yea that sounds pretty good i don't really want it too loud. The plan was hooker super comp's for sure then maybe a mufflex y and dynomax back. Im going to go with whatever is cheaper im running out of money

Re: NOS and fuel questions
a 4" mufflex would work as well. No real way to keep 600hp quiet and not lose power though.
