How fast can I be bone stock with boost?
How fast can I be bone stock with boost?
I have been on the LS1 side of things for the past few years, and am interested in a third gen again. If I put a blower or turbo on a stock 350 (or heck, even 305) what kind of rwhp can I expect to see if everything else is stock? What other mods do you recommend?

if you keep it stock you are going to run lean and destory the motor. at the least you need upgraded fuel pump injectors ect.
how much boost do you want to run. if i rember correctly it was said that for every psi of boost is a 7% increase in power and for every 10 dgrees droped in air temp is a 1% increase in power.

I'd say that if you got correct air/fuel ratios by some good injectors and tuning you could probably get away with 5-6 pounds of boost safely on premium pump gas if you had an intercooler. I would put a good set of headers and a free flowing exhaust on too because that adds power and makes an engine less prone to knock. With intercooled boost levels in that range you'd see about a 30% horsepower gain, so a 250 horsepower engine would jump to 325 horse. It would probably run about like a stock ls1 camaro, but if you did aluminum heads and a good blower cam I'd say you could make 500 horse on pump gas pretty easily if it was tuned right.

10Ibs is pretty safe on a stock engine if you can tune it right meaning new injectors and modified computer. Last few weeks I been running 15Ibs with a slipping 3.4" pulley no problems, should spike up to 17Ibs once I can get some more tension on the thing but I might just use this 3.7" pulley that I got in to be on the safer side.

my old 305 with 153000 miles made 390hp and 420ftlbs to the wheels at 13lbs with an ati procharger p600b. Had the supporting fuel mods though. It finally let loose two weeks ago. has a horrible rod knock now. Im sure it would have lasted longer if I would have babied it a little more, thats no fun though

a local guy is running 15 psi on a 305 TPI with meth injection and is running 11.8's in the 1/4 and puts down over 400whp.
