Tired old 305 VS. the 200 shot

So we're going to go through with upjetting a 1985 305 TPI car to a 200 shot here soon. The car's been surviving on a combination of a .069, .035 jet run after run so we've gotta do something to get it to torch. We'll be monitoring it closely and attempting to get it to live as long as possible, this isn't some "lets blow it up to be hicks" thing. I'll hopefully get some videos of the car running at the track barring it melting before then.

Re: Tired old 305 VS. the 200 shot

Basic wet nozzle system, old abused 305, 0 degrees base angle timing, car has 3.73 posi rear and shift kit in the trans plus a ton of free mods done to the 305. It's been the nitrous mule, the kid who owns it has a new engine and we've been letting friends who've never ran spray drive it to get used to it. This went fine until someone decided to spray the 125 shot immediatly out of the hole which resulted in a backfire that broke one of the maf wires . Next plan is to purchase a mAF with a warranty As for making it down the track safe, I'm sure it will. If anything breaks I put money on it it will either be from an intake backfire, or cracked piston. I highly doubt it will blow anything up bad enough to scatter fluids on the track or hurt the driver.

Re: Tired old 305 VS. the 200 shot

my mechanic did the same with a 89 iroc, put a 250 shot fogger system on it. at the same time he was building a big block for the car. he said the car was bone stock, just uncorked the exhaust thats it. he then walked his buddy's 11 sec car.. it never blew. gave it to a guy to put in a pickup truck. its still running about 5yrs later. i dont think its been sprayed since though.

Re: Tired old 305 VS. the 200 shot

I know we're going to end up with some REALLY funky fuel distribution on this kit but I think it'll be better than my plate setup because it's spraying in front of the throttle body blades giving the nitrous more time to disperse. We plan to run a pair of nozzles and possibly do this as a 2 stage, that will reduce the load on the car and give it alot less chance of backfiring through the intake from being sprayed to low again.

my old 305 with a 3500 stall was sprayed right off the tree. 150 shot was good for 11.60s all day long.

What kind of exhaust setup do you have in there? It sounds good for a 305 TBI !!
