I hope the mods dont mind me cross posting this with the LS1 forum... Im not getting very many good answers to my question and Im hoping the forced induction guys can help me a bit...
As some of you know, I have a 1991 Camaro RS with a LS1/T56 swapped in. For those of you that dont know, this is the car

And this is the motor

Anyways, I have a few ideas running through my mind.
1. Put the Camaro project on hold, buy an Audi TT and use it as a winter car
2. Put the Camaro project on hold, buy a right hand drive Mazda RX7 FD and play with that a bit
3. Boost the Camaro and buy a cheap winter car
My question is what do people think I should do? I know that this is a Camaro board so I will assume most people will bash import vehicles and tell me to boost the Camaro.
Now, if I choose to boost the Camaro, what direction do I go? My best friend who doubles as my mechanic suggests I should go supercharged since a muscle car deserves a good supercharger. Would this be my best bet? Should I go turbo? Procharged?
Does anyone make a kit that is easily adaptable to the third gen LS1 platform? I would prefer to not go with a rear mount turbo. I sort of think the idea is stupid. No offense to anyone here who has it...
What sort of costs am I looking at? Can it be done with the stock flat RS hood? I want to keep appearance of the car as stock as possible...

That is a roots blower you are looking at in that photo (correct me if I am wrong).
It's a good setup. So is the procharger kit.
I agree, do not go with the STS kits.
And boost comes at a price (unless you can do all the fabrication yourself).
I think you would be happy with a procharger setup. But obviously, the turbo setup is going to be better, but probably more expensive. Either way, with the setup you have, you're probably going to have to go thru some fabrication. I notice you are only 2 hours away from one of the best custom turbo shops in the country, Stenod Performance. I would highly recommened trying to get a hold of Joe or Kevin over there and tell them what you are looking to do and maybe drive the car over to have them take a look at it. They can give you some options and can fab up anything. They are true masters are boosting / fabrication.

I doubt I can run it here legally in Michigan too, but I do.

I'd have to agree with 91 bird on what he'd commented.
The turbo will always make more power over a wider range of RPM.
The supercharger pictured there would be ALOT easier and might fit under the stock hood which would be nice. I've seen some results on that supercharger and it takes little to run it while going down the road with the bypass valve and gives good power results with very nice looks.
You've got a nice looking setup there with the stance/rims.
I'd be seriously looking at the supercharger you've got in the picture.

the supercharger in that picture is a whipplecharger and will run you around $6500 for the complete setup. It will make instant boost and is a great choice for a street driven vehicle. A remote mount turbo will definitely save you some money, but will not come alive untill 3500rpms.

I would vote for a kennebell kit. They have a tuner version designed without all the vehicle specific stuff. I believe you might even be able to get it under a stock thirdgen hood since the inlet isnt extended off the front like the magnachargers, keep in mind the stock hood will fit a TPI which is pretty tall stock. so the bell setup just might fit.

Everyone knows me for my turbo setups, but my vote goes to option #1 or #2.
I am a gear head, but I honestly have to say that your car sure does look very nice and clean just the way it is. If it was me I would leave the Camaro happy and un molested.
I would buy an RX7 and drive it hard all day long until the crappy, delicate and torqueless rotary engines dies from a heart attack. Then I would carefully remove the dead rotary engine with the transmission and use it for land fill or something similar, then I would do the V8 swap.
My brother is currently making that same thing with his RX-7 (dont tell anyone but he is making the V8 Ford swap). And I have to be honest and admit that I am quite liking the idea of it. The plan is to have a high reving 302 under the RX7 hood, we all have to admit that the Ford 302does make some nice engine melody.

it would really all come down to you prefrence and how much room you have. is there hood clearence for a blower? is there side clearence for turbo headers? what kinda of power level are you looking for? all these factor in to see what you want, a remote turbo setup may lag more then a normal setup but you wouldnt have to run an intercooler with it since the piping acts like one and cools the air charge. if you not looking for insane boost you could get smaller turbos that spool quickly for a remote setup and you would still have room in the engine compartment and keep somewhat of a clean look under the hood, but first i would have to know what kind of power level your looking for and what you have room under the hood for
