v6+turbo+1/4 mile finally a decent video

6 psi still lean as hell high 12 to low 13 afrs under boost, and 16* total timing, slowly but surely the new setup is starting to fall into place

some more fuel and timing should get this thing into the low 13's on 6 pounds
still working on the driver mod though but shes learning very fast, hell she pulled a .004 light on her first pass 0f the night but sadly blew apart one fo the intercooler pipes just after the 60'

enjoy

thing is far from ready but thnx man, yeah the launch was very soft, the girl driving the car is afraid of it,and any kind of launch under boost just annihilates street tires.
we should be down into the low 13,s high 12's once its dialed in on only 6psi,to go 12's last year we had to run 16+ psi to break into the 12's,due to the girl driving and alot of time invested into the motor im taking it very slow to make sure a we dont hurt the motor, and 2 i dont make her any more afriad of the car then she already is.shes comming around though she is ready for a lil more now so im gonna setup the car for around 12.7-13.2.

first time we had it out it went 14.6 @ 82 she lifted well before the line, the guy nexto her in the eclipse went 14.9@92 i think, then this session with the video in the thread she went 14.01 lifting just before the line with the lazy launch,so shes slowling getting it,hell she cut an 004 light on her first attempt that night, and shes got the burnout down pat.just gota work on the launch and getting her to spool the turbo on the line

last year i posted up saying i got the wheels off the ground and said it felt like 10"s just cause of the suspension travel and the way the nose of the car is up,dosent help when ur buddie standing outside that dont know the diff.it was more like 3/4,anyways i finally found out the car would pull the fronts with the drag springs and on the slicks leaving under boost.that was with the old motor.this year i just pulled the front right @ 6psi on the slicks with stock front srings. theres a video posted only a few ppl picked up on it but they all saw it.now if the guys wasnt a ******** i woulda just posted it in this thread, but since he is ill just let him go search for it

Re: v6+turbo+1/4 mile finally a decent video

Thats kind of the point, there's been a lot of talk... as usual... and no walk. He's got multiple ID's and videos posted on various video hosting websites (mostly compilations and short segments showing nothing whatsoever useful) and there's no proof whatsoever. Its just talk. If he posted up some real proof I might not come into posts like this and say... uh... not! Kind of like these 12's... sure, in the 1/8th. Lifting tires is wasted energy anyway, energy better used to go forward rather than up. I guess with slicks and 2.1 60' times though... Maybe those slicks arent exactly working out ya know.

At least this time it did look like the 'timeslip' posted reasonably matched that nighttime video that you cant read the ET or MPH. Try not to zoom in next time, and leave the camera on the lighted board a while. Video cameras cant focus at night especially a few bright lights on a black background. Sometimes have to go for the manual focus.

Oh... to the OP:

Oh... to the OP:
car went 2.1/2.0 on street tires not the slicks, car 60ft's much better on the slicks on a true launch, and there is no manual focus my video camera is just a plain old digital camera, and i did leave it on the board for a few seconds it never focused.if i dont zoom in on the car its to hard to make out after the 1/8 mile mark

i dont know how old you guys are , but i consider myself gettin up there.from the past few tpi cars i built i keep askin myself why bother with this nat aspirated stuff? im startin to think power adder not nos, but turbos or cent superchargers are the way to go. all that time an money to put a 350 or 383into the low 12s or high 11s is crazy. you get crappy idle fair drivability an not that greatmpg. put 12psi on a stocktpi , ok maybe not stock but very mild cam an like a hsr or even a bigmouth an runners or a mini ram and it will idle like an ls7 an run almost as fast maybe quicker .not to brag by any means but we were puttin l98s in the low to mid 12 in the early to mid 90s with everything tpis had to offer .13 yaers later most guys are still gettin same numbers. power adders are on my mind from now on .of course this is just my opinion , but chevy likes it i guess with the new vette supercharged ls3

i will never build anything na anymore, never liked nitrous not saying it cant be reliable or cheap just personal preference.ive owned turbo cars before when i was younger never moded them.but after my first turbo setup on this car and now this new one im sticking with turbos we've got guys with 4thgen v6's over 600 hp a handful of others making 400+, and i should be sitting just over 300 @ 6psi and thats out of a motor that made 120 out of the factory.im preparing for some 15+ psi runs prolly this friday, and it wont be much longer till im up in the mid20's as far as boost.best part is the car is so well behaved on the street, with the exception of an off idle stumble which for the life of me i cannot tune out, so im not sure if its the tune or the cam 268/272 int/ex. car stumbles pretty bad when u stab the throttle, but it dont do it if u lay into it nice and easy

the nice thing about a turbo is you could run a little milder cam than that 268 an probably get close to the same numbers your lookin 4 but either way is fine its all up to you thats whats great

Re: v6+turbo+1/4 mile finally a decent video

right now were limiting the motor to just about 6k had i gone with the smaller 260 grind the car would actually go faster as it sits, the t3 .63 is choking the motor above 6k (we plan on spinning it to just over 7,300),i went with the larger cam cause i have a 70mm turbo going on and a gt42,the smallest turbine i could get on either is t4.8x so im gonna have to spin the motor up pretty high, the t70 is prolly what will stay on the car,but i am going to test with the gt42.
when i do swap the turbos out i may send the converter out to be loosened up a bit more right now i get just over 4200 out of it,could prolly use a tad more with the larger turbo

right now i dont have a real ex system on the car,at the track i run a open down pipe 3 inch, for street driving i have a 2.5 inch cheery bomb turbo muffler on it that dumps out the side infront of the ps rear tire.

eventualy im going to put a full 3 inch borla cat back on the car, i designed my downpipe so a stock pipe or aftermarket catback would bolt to it

Re: v6+turbo+1/4 mile finally a decent video

at the moment u cant just buy a turbo setup for a v6 car,u pretty much have to build everything urself.though in around 1 months time there will be a company releasing a full kit

if u wanted to build one urself ebay and the junkyard would be 2 places to get parts pretty cheap

Chill out chief.

To the OP, nice job! Wonder what it would do with a built bottom end and a slightly larger turbo?

I find this topic to be very funny. I personally would rather my car not to lift (and I'm talking lift) at all, as although it embellishes on how powerful the car is, it doesn't necessarily guarantee you a quicker ET. Yes, more weight on the rear tires is great for traction, but when that front end comes back down, you need to ease up on the throttle to balance everything out (taking away from your ET), unless you want to wind up either in the wall, or in the opposing lane....

no need for a built bottom end stock is more then strong enough rods/crank are anyway, and i do have aftermarket pistons,we will soon find out just what it will do with a larger turbo , though the turbo thats on it now is good for 450hp just gota run it at high boost
