P1SC

here is the story

Just got finished building a nitrous 383

all forged bottom end, gapped rings, comps 292 nitrous express cam ported and polished vortec heads and an airgap intake.

the motor has around 10.5-1 CR.

I have a killer deal on a full P1SC kit, brackets, pulleys, intercooler and all the piping for $1200. I know the guy well and the blower is in good shape.

Do you think running about 8-10# is a good idea with my setup? i only run 92+ octane, any opinions welcome

thanks

Re: P1SC

That`s a crazy deal but think you compression might be little to high for that amount of boost. Lower the boost a little and some good tuning you might be able to get away with it though.

Re: P1SC

Cheapest way out is to change pistons.....

Swapping heads to a 76cc combustion chamber would be more expensive.

You need to do one or the other....

Re: P1SC

Both the previous 2 points are VERY valid. Take one or both of the roots suggested or you're not going to have that new motor or the other parts that get destroyed with it very long. Sorry, but 10.5 is REALLY too high for anything over 4-6 lbs without alot of other things done and even if those things were done I still would shy away from 8-10lbs.

Re: P1SC

Would you be willing to pass along contact info for this? I would LOVE to procharge my car but just can't afford the normal prices on the kits...

Re: P1SC

Dont they make special head gaskets of varying thickness designed to lower compression? I know I've heard of them, perhaps you could go that rout if it suits your application. Would def. be cheaper.

Good luck,
Max

PS. If you want to sell the ProCharger, send it my way.

Re: P1SC

89, Sure he could, but look at the cons vs. pros. I mean it'd be like he's running a 350 again you know what I mean? I mean the payoff for trying to avoid knock by pulling the amount of timing needed to avoid it I don't think would be worth it.

Re: P1SC

Here is the verdict. I will be picking up the supercharger today. after doing alot of research and many phone calls to Procharger i have come up with this conclusion.

I live in utah, altitude is 4465 feet above sea level, the air in alot thinner up here then in many places in the country. i will run an 8 pound pulley but due to the thin air it will be similar to running 4-5 pounds at sea level.

we will see how it goes, if it blows up it blows, me and my buddies are a bit on the crazy side, if it works it works if not rebuild it so it will. i mean hell we have a 8 second N/A small block so the least we could do is try this.

thank you all for the info and opinions, AC you are a living dictonary for this stuff and thanks for the help we will see how it goes i will keep you all informed.

thanks
