Help With Procharger D1SC Belt Length

Hi, I am needing help with getting the right belt for my application. It is the normal Procharger TPI D1SC setup, and I am wanting a 12 rib belt. I am currently running the 8 rib setup, with 7.65" crank pulley, and 3.70" blower pulley, and running a Gates K080644 belt with it. It is 64.40" Inside Circumference, and 65.00" Outside Circumference. I am needing the same spec belt, but in a 12 rib belt. I know that Procharger sells them, but they are always 1/2" to long. That's what I got into with my 8 rib setup,I went to Oreilly's and bought one 1/2" shorter, and I had to take the blower off to get it on there, but it worked better than what Procharger offers. I have searched for a Gates in a 12 rib with the same specs as the K080644,but can't find anything.

Can anybody help me out with a part# or anything?? Thanks,Brian

Re: Help With Procharger D1SC Belt Length

When you say Procharger sells them but they are always 1/2" to long what do you mean by that?

For my 4.0" pulley setup I'am using using a DB6501-12 and for my 3.7" I have a DB6645I12 belt that I bought from procharger. Now I can't remember exactly how well it fit since I wanted more boost and slapped on a 3.4" pulley kind of right away, but if I remembered correctly it worked.

One thing you could do is use 2 6rib belts Like I'am using for my 3.4" setup.

Hi, what I mean by that is,when you put the new belt on that Procharger sells you,it stretches so much, that the tensioner runs out of adjustment, and you can't get the belt tight enough to hold. If you start out with a belt that is 1/2" shorter than what Procharger sells, you have to take the blower off to get it on there, but it will stretch also, and gives you a little more tensioner adjustment. The Procharger D1SC belt tensioner is a very poor design in my opinion.

Re: Help With Procharger D1SC Belt Length

My kit was just a SBC kit with a 4.75" pulley, and I dropped the blower down a good 1.5". The 65" belt probably would've worked, but from the drop I got a 64". I think I'm using something like a 62.5" belt with the 4" pulley. I work at autozone, so I just grabbed a few 6 rib belts to get the length, then use double belts of the size that fit best.

I always have to remove my pulley to get the belt to go on but you can do the same with removing the blower itself like your doing. Your right though you need to do this cause the tensioner system is such a piece of junk and the smaller the pulley the worse it gets. I got a couple of things that might help you get more tension, you can shorten the tensioner bolt just a bit so it doesn't bottem out on the bracket, another thing is you can move the tensioner pulley up about a inch on the bracket, it's pretty simple to do just drill one hole and move it up. Lastly you can have a custom pulley made that's bigger to add that extra bit of tension, I had to do this cause my 2 6 rib setup for my 3.4" pulley was just to stretchy and was getting to much slip, works ok now but not perfict, maybe a proper 12 rib belt might help since I don't think they stretch as much.

Re: Help With Procharger D1SC Belt Length

Thanks for the info Tony, which idler are you talking about moving up the bracket an inch? I would like to know for sure, because we might try that. We will also look into shortening the tensioner bolt, how much can you shorten it?

Thanks Again Tony, Brian

Re: Help With Procharger D1SC Belt Length

Yeah sorry it's the one attached to the tensioner setup itself on the bracket.

As for the bolt shorting it's been years since I did it but I'am guessing 1/2" to start, you can try some washers under the head of the bolt to, should give you a idea how much you might want to cut off then.
