any bbc guys running a procharger

i was wondering if anyone on here running a bbc is also packing a procharger under the hood. like a d-1sc or a f-1. i want to get a kit for my car but am not sure i would have enough room under the hood for one. i have been looking at pics and some look as if you could while others look like you couldnt. so anybody done it with some good info?

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

I don't see it fitting without some heavy modifications to the bracket and/or car. I have the SBC kit on mine, and the 4.75" pulley on the blower was something like 1.25" or 1.5" too high. I slotted the 3 bolts mounting the bracket to the head to rotate the blower down enough to clear the hood. I don't have the diagrams near me, but I do know that the BBC kit moves the blower up and away from the motor. This movement would put the blower into the fender and out of the hood. I'd guess that it's possible to swing it like I did to clear the hood, but again it will likely contact the strut tower let alone the fender.

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

I wonder if you would be better off with a regular bracket for thirdgen kit, just from looking at fast82z install I can see it moving forward lot more then you wouldn't run into the same problems he has. Just a example you can see how more forward my blower is on my SBC and thats with a 12 rib belt. Something to think about anyways.

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

Think I'd call Procharger and see if they have a bracket for a 3rd gen camaro wit a bbc. Outer dimention wise, the p-1sc, d-1sc, and f-1 are all the same. I would bet that it is possible to fit it in there, but I just don't know what kind of bracket they may or may not make for that application.

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

for my 90 vette they make the brackets, so the charger is acually facing backwards, (pulley towards the windshield) just for an Idea...

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

I know, old post, but I'm running a F1R 12 rib + IC using the universal big block brackets, no mods to the brackets, but did have to do smoothing to the inner fender to clear by 1/4". Also, no windshield washer resevoir possible. Will post pics at some point.

When I saw those pics above, that was my first thought.

Relocate the battery & flip the blower around. Would also stop sucking in hot air, from sitting directly over the exhaust. Just a matter of it there would be enough room to clear the radiator.

Re: any bbc guys running a procharger

pics would be great. still up in the air about what kind of forced induction i want to run. 8-71 would be cool but dont want to cut up my goodmark hood and have it blocking the view. seen a big block in one with twins and doesnt look to hard and then their is the procharger type setups but i dunno yet still have a little while to figure it out. recently got married and drained my account. was about to have the thing sitting on the ground finally from the 4 link but now i still need to get axles and have the spool/gears installed.
