Ebay twin turbo headers, has anyone used them on a third Gen?
I haven't been here in a long time as I had other things to deal with in life ( I bought a farm house and started the restoration) I also had my TA apart due to oil pressure issues. Since I had my car apart, I was going to get my headers coated as they had few cracks in them. While I was looking through Ebay, I ran into these headers and I was wondering if anyone has used them in a third gen? How well do they fit? How about the clearance up front ?
I did do a search under ebay headers but didn't see to much here.

i personaly dont have any experiance with those but i did hear that the weight of the turbo needs to also be supported by a bracket from the header to the engine. if not over time the weight of the turbo will stress crack the the welds were the turbo flange is welded on. but as far as room in the engine compartment....i cant help u there

How much modding are you really doing?
I thought all u had to do is make sure the starter clears?

they in no shape fit my chassis at all. would have put both turbos through the front frame rails.

Everyone I have ever seen use those headers as a starting point usally tosses them a few months later and start from scratch.

I guess I'll fix my headers and get them coated and reuse them. The eBay headers say that it’s for a Firebird that is the reason I was inquiring.

What is interesting is they have a Kit for a Twin Turbo setup 82-92 Camaro/Trans Am
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...mZ350069066954
For $1750 (with shipping) I do not think its too bad of a price...
Anyone tried the kit, is it for a 4BBL or TPI?

the ebay headers work fine if you rework the primary tubes to clear the steering shaft and slice off a section of the collectors to shorten them or to weld on v bands in their place. Check the turbomustangs.com for some complete working builds using these. Turbomonte's is a good one that comes to mind http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...?topic=84015.0

From what I can tell, they have several kits, all apparently the same thing some less than others, like you said $999 for what appears to be the same thing as the $1799 kit... What a joke, make it one price, stop playing games...
Thanks

They look nice but they have no heat coating what so ever. Click on my link to see what they should look like.

Re: Ebay twin turbo headers, has anyone used them on a third Gen?
ceramic coating is not nesacary, it does help but is not needed with stainless headers.
i built my own 316L and 321 stainles sheaders and prefer the look of the plain stainless over the coating

Re: Ebay twin turbo headers, has anyone used them on a third Gen?
Well you should just check my sig to see what I use to see what is really necessary IMO. I use swaintech coatings over perma coat for my headers..which significantly lowers the radiant heat so that it has less effect on the surrounding electrical components. It also retains the heat within the tubes and merge collector so that it will help scavenge exhaust gas and enter/spool the turbo faster.
There is a reason remote mounts (tt kits) have to use small .ar's to spool faster because of the characteristics associated with remote mounting. I recommended to many early on when remote mounting a tt setup to coat or wrap the pipes to keep the gases moving as fast as possible. In remote mounting it would be better to use a larger single turbo setup. But with a tt when the .ar is increased so that the system will have less back pressure up top...so that it can pull above 5500 rpms without being choked off..there is a noticable change in the low boost threshold. Which has significant draw backs for a street setup. A good setup will spool in the last 1/2 of the rpm range...unless of course you need something to tow with.
These are just my experiences with numerous other Power Adders.
Frankly I am very surprised that nobody has released a quality kit for the F Body 3rd Gens. I sold my 87 IROC 5.7 because I kept breaking the 2 bolt crank L98 motor at the track back in the mid 90s. But I have a 91 Formula 350 that has been sitting since 1992 and have been contemplating doing a power adder. Since I don't see a lot of gains with just heads and cams or engine swaps to an LS1.
I am really surprised that nobody has a good TT kit out there...they are very easy to build. I am glad to see that procharger has a kit and added an intercooler...but I had horrible customer service with ATI Procharger when I purchased the first D1 for the C5 on the West Coast...and it was horrible to deal with their errors. I would never recommend them to anybody for that. Novis or Vortec YSI or T trims are the way to go for Centri S/Cs.
All my headers whether they have been cast, mild, or stainless steel, have had the proper coatings.
If coating correctly and heat managed you don't have to lose anything that the car came with from the factory....like AC or even smog equipment. A.I.R. etc..
