Nos question
I am adding a 100 shot wet tpi plate system to my 383. Should i change timing and plugs? The plugs that i am using are Acell shortys...576 s and the timing without the computer is at 8 degrees BTDC.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Nos question
On my L98 I just put the timing back to stock (6 degrees) and did swap out the plugs for some colder ones. I just figured it best to start out conservatively and tune from there. Im actually going to try advancing the timing some nxt time at the track. Car Craft Magazine was spraying 150 on a stock 150k mile L98 with the timing advanced 6 degrees (12 total) with no problem so you should be good at 8 degrees.

Re: Nos question
you could probly get away with stock heat plugs on a 100 shot but it be nice to run a step colder and tighten the gap to around .035 or so. Timing you dont really have to touch much. SHould be ok, but how much are you running at WOT?
My 383 runs 34 for best power and on the spray i only pull 2 degrees and thats with a 150 whp shot. its fine with 93 octane and a step colder plug on .032-.035 gap

Re: Nos question
Study up!!! Dont rely on someone else for your tune up. Go to Holley.com & they will have the directions in a PDF.
It probably reads like you should retard timing 1-2 degrees for every 50 shot of spray. I forget the plug number I'm using, but yes, 1-2 steps colder in plugs w/ a shorter gap should be fine. Fuel pressure should be "adjusted" too! Dont lean out.
I spray my bone stock TPI w a 150 shot, off the line, (timing, plugs, fuel press set) & that motor loves it & it pulls. It took almost 1.2 seconds of my ET.
Cant wait to see what it does for my No2 Built 406!
