First new thread so be gentle. That said I have a NIB procharger P600B. My ? is what is the cid & rpm limit for a BBC

 

I'm guessing you're asking more like "how much motor can this supercharger feed?" The best answer I have for that question is that it can supply air for roughly 775fwhp, but I'm sure it could move enough air for more counting on the base motor being well built and using an intercooler.

If you mean the rpm/cid limit of a bbc in general, pretty much anything just determined by your budget.

 

I have access to crank rods all 4340 to make 440 ci. Mines a 82 also. how difficult will it be to install the intercooler? Also you carb or fi?

 

Holy crap too small of a blower. 5.0 mustang guys max that blower out with stock bottom ends. Sell it and buy a bigger unit. You should be able to get some good money for it.

 

I'd say it was harder choosing and putting tubes to and from the intercooler than it was placing and mounting it. Here's where I put it:

I was carbed. but have been fi this last season. 440bbc doesn't sound familiar, what bore/stroke combo. is that? There's a couple things that come to mind with that setup. That head unit/blower, specially on a bbc, may only be able to make 4-6psi of boost. The standard sbc bracket puts the turbo something like 1.5"-2" too high to fit under a hood, let alone the bbc bracket that is higher yet. I was able to slot the bolt holes enough on mine to swing it down enough, but the bbc bracket might also put the blower into the strut tower. I'd say you could go ahead with what you have, but I definitely see an upgrade to either a d-1sc or an f-1 which will both fit in the same bracket as the one you have now.

 

its 1:30am so my brain is still in bed ;so bore/stroke escape me but it is a .60 over 427. Ya that thing{the blower} been sitting on the self for over 10 years. I got it for my dads v8 S10 project. But before we could start on it he smashed a 8point buck. End of project. Recently decidedto pull camaro out of moth ***** (literally) smells BAD. its been in storeage since 93.Now i am taking stock of what parts I have.

 

a +.060 427 is roughly 438ci. A stock 4340 3.760 stroke(standard 427) will handle quite a bit of power and rpm(I've put down just under 1500hp on one, turning it 9600r's). Stock 4340 rods on the other hand are good for around 7-800hp with good bolts, but if they need re-sized and new bolts put in(unless this was already done before hitting the shelf, they do) it's much more cost effective to buy aftermarket rods. With aftermarket rods, they're only power limit is your budget.

I don't know any specifics on centri blowers myself but from what I'm reading above, you're going to want to stick with a smaller induction package(heads/cam/intake) and keep the engine rpm down so that the blower can do it's job. If you really want to utilize having a BBC, sounds like you should look into a bigger blower.

 

got to make this quick. crank and rods are not stock. crank is crower 4340 stock stroke. rods are carillo .250 long billet, no pistons but looking at arias. and builders around here round up to 440 from 438. sounds better i guess. afr 305s, victor jr. and no cam yet.

 

The problem is that blower is the smallest one they make. Its ment for stock 350ci engines and smaller. Anything with some flow needs more air. The P600 just wont be efficent.

OK acording to ATI's spec chart the p600 is the same basic size as the F-1a . It will flow 1200cfm, make 24# of boost,and the same inlet& outlet ID. The only major diff is the 3.05:1 stepup; compard to 5.40:1; and 60,000rpm vs.74,000. I still need to get a mounting bracket. I'll see if I can trade up seeing mines still new in the box.

 

By the way ,are any of you currently using E85? I'm in the heart of IL corn country and can get it at the pump on every other corner for $1.35. Plus its 105+ octan.

 

Agreed, your big block is too much motor for this little blower

 

The only thing a P600B and an F1A have in common is the 9" volute. The F1A flows 1650 cfm vs the 1150 cfm of the P600B.

 

a friend of mine had a 383 with a p1sc ATI told him that his motor was breathing to good to make boost he made lil boost from it so he's steepin up to a d1sc or and f1 u should PM him and talk to him AC is his screenname here
